When you uninstalled did you check that the folder c\program data\team mediaportal was deleted as well (hidden folders need to be shown).

    regards

Yes, I would have thought that deleting the Team Mediaportal folder would have removed all settings, but it doesn't. Even the references to the folders where my media is located are there as soon as I enter the setup/config. Maybe it's just Vista that stores these settings elsewhere? Anyone?

If you haven't changed the standard configuration of vista it creates "shadow copies" of everything that is deleted. You should have a look for them. I don't know exactly where you can find this option since I don't use Vista atm.

If you mean this folder: C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal
then yes, I deleted it after uninstall (via Control Panel => Programs), then restarted the computer.

This might be the reason, sounds interesting. I will have a search and tinker and report back tomorrow (wife and kids have now taken back control of the TV!).

i can report the same issue but on win xp, install went fine, only had issues after tv plugin was install on the client pc, MP itself works just can't get back into the configuration.exe file.
windows lists it as a running service but doesnt' show on the screen.
I just tested removing the client tv install and i can come in and out of coonfiguration.exe without a problem, closes and re-opens everytime

I found the "C:\Program Data\Team MediaPortal" (yes, it was hidden) and managed to delete the retained settings however it did not resolve anything.
I did try installing the TV plugin prior to upgrading from MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC1 to the svn and was able to enter the setup/config, but not after installing the MP svn.

I have now reverted to MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC1 and all seems to be working okay (although I need to be in stretch aspect ratio when watching TV) but would like to update to the TV Server/engine some day (actually, I think the picture quality is better with the TV service). Maybe I'll try a newer svn in a week or two - at least I now have something to revert back to.

This is weird maybe a developer has a hint. The picture quality however is exactly the same.

may be just a RTFM problem :)

I had the same problem, now solved.

    A) Unistalled Plug-In and Mediaportal (left TV Server),
    B) restarted PC (may be not neccessery),
    C) deleted Mediaportal Portal directory (left the TV server directory there) (may be not neccessery)

    and followed these steps:

Case 1: MediaPortal not installed on your system
    1) Download the latest version of MediaPortal.
    2) Install MediaPortal. Do NOT configure it after installation!
    3) Download the latest SVN-Snapshot.
    4) Install the snapshot into your MediaPortal directory.
    5) Configure MediaPortal.

Here is the complete solution for other situations as well:

Hope it will solve your problems soon. It took me one day :(.
