So you have a computer in your LAN (on same IP/etc) that works, and this one that doesn't. That at least gives you the ability to compare, do a traceroute or other network diagnostic to see if there are any differences. Could be as simple as different DNS servers, corrupt DNS cache, or more complex like some 3rd party software interfering. Norton or anything Symantec is known to adjust network traffic, even when you "disable" it.

Verify with Fiddler then or WireShark that the data you get is the data you expect (F12 network capture in IE10 or FireBug extension for Firefox help as well).

Test manually first in a browser otherwise with: http://www.thetvdb.com/api/GetSeries.php?seriesname=Stargate

But I have to say that there are no problems to connect to thetvdb.com with a browser or other programs, for example filebot.
There were no differences with traceroute.
But there are differences in the mp-tvseries itself - you can see it in the screenshots. First of all i can't click the dropdown "language". It's just grey. And second, I miss the "Logos" and "Formatting" tabs in my HTPC-MP-TVSeries.
Fiddler found differences, too. But I can't interprete them. Maybe you?

In Addition: I completely deinstalled Norton with a Norton-Uninstaller, but without any effect.

thank you so much for your patience

And here is another update: I've noticed, that, after a complete deinstallation of mediaportal and a reinstall, i can't find MP-TVSeries in the MediaPortal ExtensionsManager. There's no problem in finding and installing it with the other computer. It even can't be found in the installed extensions. So i've deinstalled everything again and searched for "tvseries" on my harddrive. After deleting everything found, I've installed everything again and couldn't find MP-TVSeries in the Extensions Manager again. WHAT THE FUCK? I don't want to reinstall windows, just because of tvseries..
BUT: after installing MP-TVSeries manually, now the missing tabs "Logos" and "Formatting" appeared. Unfortunately it still can't connect to the inet
    I could cry

    1. Do you got any old entries still at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MPTVSeries
    2. Are you using any db3 backups when you 'reinstall'?

The reason why you see those two tabs in configuration is due to the error seen in your log when trying to load details about skin settings. Your skin controls whether or not you see them as most skins override user settings for logos and formatting of skin properties.

To be honest, if you format your PC its probably going to be faster at this point.

I have no idea what you have done, format and re-install probably a few hours. How long have you had this problem now?...several days of wasting your time I bet.

I don`t know. I`ve tried to delete everything with "tvseries" and "mediaportal" in it's name, but unfortunately there MUST be any kind of database, that i can't find. I found out, that even my other plugins can't be found in the extension installer, after a deinstall and reinstall. But they neither appear in the "installed extensions"-list nor in the "known extensions"-list.

To be honest, I'm reeeeaaaally afraid of formatting and reinstall, cause the whole system with it's tasks and remotesettings and configurations.. It took days and weeks until everything worked, like I wanted. It's just that little problem here, that there is no connection to the tvdb.com. It should be the very last way to format.

Now I'm absolutely confused.. I created a new partition, installed windows and nothing else without the needed drivers. a
After that I installed MP and TVSeries and there was the same result: No My-TvSeries in the extension installer and no connection to the inet after installing it manually. What the f***?? So I hide all the other partitions, uninstall, reinstall.. same result! I'm absolutely idealess now.

Is your router doing any filtering? I've got a dd-wrt router and I can create some amazing filters that block content only for certain computers on my network based on IP, MAC, etc.

I would say, there is no filtering and the Firewall is deactivated. I can't see any fields, that based on the mac of it. But there's another thing I found out.. If I have enough files to search for, my MP-TV Series get's some data. For example: I try to get data for just one episode it tells me "nothing found". But if I try to get data for about 7 different series it receives a mirror site from thetvdb and turns at least green. But thats all. It seems to take a lot of time to get in connection with thetvdb and cuts the whole thing off, cause it takes too much time.

Well as you can see by the 'working' system in your LAN it has nothing to do with MP-TVSeries, so it is something with your side. You seem to have excluded almost everything, so running out of options to help. Trying a proxy to see if it is your ISP is like last recourse from what I can see. All I can tell ya is that TheTVdB is working without any problems for me from a US IP (imported 14 new episodes with text-details + episode thumbnails and cover+fanart for 2 new series in the last couple of days).

    Good luck.

Well, here is my last update:
    I found the failure *yay..*
I have a modem and a wlan router. If i plug the lan cable into the modem, there are no problems. So you were right in saying there must be sth wrong with my router. Until now, i couldn't figure out where the problem is. As I said, i works fine with the other computer per lan AND wlan and there are no special settings with my htpc. But thats not your problem.
    What else to say..
I'm reeeeaaaallyyy thankful for your great great patience with me. You were a great partner/ teacher whatever..
I did not feel alone with my problem and had hope to find the problem, nearly just because of you.
So again, thank you very much RoChess - that was a big help for me.
    and thanks to the com
I hope my english was at least understandable :)
