Thanks, I worked out what it was.
I had to go into the mapping tab of xmltv and manually map the channels to the channels found in xmltv.
But heres the thing, I never had to do this before.. but I noticed that it had listed the channel name as it was when it was scanned from the satellite.
eg Discovery Channel only scans in as Disc from the satellite but I changed the channel name to Discovery Channel and also it appears as Discovery Channel in the tvguide.xml file. I never had to manually map channel names before because all my channel names match exactly to what appears in the tvguide.xml file.
Also as I mentioned before, I did have program data in the database before so it must have got there somehow.??
Anyways I dont know why it was still using the original channel names in the tvguide mapping so this is why I had to manually map them..
mediaportal client running without tv server worked fine, no need to manually map..
I'll have a look at the channel setup again but to see if it still has the old channel name listed somewhere.. Also it is not listing all the channel names which were present in the tvguide.xml file..
At least its working.. partly
EDIT: Disvoverd in the database, the Channel and TuningDetail table still display the original channel name as scanned by the satellite in the 'Name' column even though the displayname has been updated to the name I changed it to.
Well herein lies the problem, I will have a look in the config and see if theres anywhere there that still displays the original name and update it.. if not I will update the database manually.
I dont know if this is a bug as i mentioned earlier i even resintalled tv server and rescanned channel names and renamed them again so this would have happened before where it only updated the displayname column and not the name column.. Dont know if it has something to do with the way i re-name channels but the way i do it is to double click the channel and in the first tab i rename the channel name..
Well at least I found the problem.. should be able to fix now
