Couldn't figure out my old account so made a new one;

Got probably 2, maybe even 3 issues of which all are reproducible time after time on my system with exactly the same behaviour:

1. Blu-ray disc, most of the time, let MP crash to desktop upon selecting menu of which I attached a crash report logs.
However selecting any of the chapters results in proper playback, as do some blu-rays for the menu... but most crash.

2. DVD's get played back/recognized as audio CD's and I get a fullscreen audio CD playback screen full of "can't find title/performer etc", this is consistent for all dvd's I tried, always seem to fail on me. Mediaportal won't crash and can't produce logs of this.

3. Maybe it should have an own bug report, maybe not, maybe it's not even a bug but "eject disc" is mapped to the green teletext button which worked on 1.5 before, and now it won't do that anymore. Bit odd but for now just mentioning.

4. Audio CD's appear to playback just fine... but fast forwarding and hitting play results in starting all over. Found this upon checking if Audio CD behaviour indeed was working just fine.

This is a full reinstall of MP1.6, removed 1.5 completely.

Hoi Pokkie,

What plugin version wifiremote are you using? I see you do use it. (wifimanager.dll is being loaded) Or am I wrong? There is an update out for one or two days now which fixes the music problems.

Why do I ask: There are some issues with some existing plugins. Could you check if some apply?

From the news post:
Notes:
  • The WifiRemote plugin can crash MediaPortal 1.6.0 while playing music.
  • FanartHandler scraping does not work in Mediaportal 1.6.0 because plugin changes are needed.
  • Intelligent Frame Correction (I.F.C) plugin has been updated to work with MediaPortal 1.6.0. You can update via our Extension Manager or download the MPEI package from here! There were several reports that the old I.F.C version did not work with MP 1.5.0 and MP 1.6.0 and causes LiveTV and Video to freeze.

Hi Ed,

I'm not using wifiremote and the dll is part of wifimanager (plugin to control wifi), neither am I using the FanartHandler.
However there's the latest version of I.F.C. which could be turned off, but it never has caused any trouble for me before.
Maybe a run with all the plugins turned off is an idea? even when I had like no plugins installed the problem was already present.

    Hello Pokkie

    1. Blu-ray disc, most of the time, let MP crash to desktop upon selecting menu of which I attached a crash report logs.

According to your log files, crashes are occurring in the Intel GPU drivers:

You don't have to get MP to crash to produce logs. Please use the watchdog/debug tool with option 1:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/16_Support/3_Forums/2_Log_Files

Insert a DVD, then close MP and post the zip file.

The log must be about the MPExtended WebMediaPortal, been trying to get that working properly to no avail yet, there's no other reason for a web server on that box. Will look into it more carefully if everything else fails.

The Intel drivers are the latest and greatest, I'll make sure to reinstall them but toying with the hardware accelerating makes no difference for now, I'll look into that + drivers more later today / next.

What I did was disable all the plugins installed, and redid both the blu-ray (crash) and dvd (watchdog) with exactly the same results... so unless still parts get loaded we can rule those out now as I was already pretty sure about.

Okay. Yeah, it probably has no relation to this problem. Just pointing it out in case you weren't aware... :)

    Okay, sounds good. :)

The DVD log files are good - thanks (y)
I can see that MP is detecting the DVD as video but playing it as music because you've removed .ifo from the list of video extensions.

.bdmv,.m2ts

Add ifo back into the list of video extensions and the problem should go away.

Weird I haven't removed that for sure, this is a clean install with a few (now inactive) plugins to toy around with. Haven't even added media yet... only imported my tv server settings. So if it's not there it means MP did that... not me. Let me see real quickly if I can solve that right now.

You know what? that screen is totally empty but .bdmv and .m2ts... I surely haven't done that...
Could a plugin have overwritten this? If I had added media to this box I would surely have noticed this before.

Also the webserver is gone, there never was an open port during these few days so it can't have done much. But it really bothers me it has been installed without my knowledge... especially on this clean a pc which pretty much contains only mp + drivers + vlc + classic shell. None of all were downloaded from a questionable source... and my main rig seams to be free of this stuff. I'll definitely look into this more and leave my ethernet cable unattached in mean time. Thanks for reporting since this shouldn't have happened and I was definitely not aware of it, more interesting is I keep close tracks of my traffic and firewalls everywhere.

I've done some more intensive testing, first what works:

#2 (DVD) works now, though it's unknown how the whole complete list became empty.
Checked both music and pictures as well just to make sure and it didn't happen there.
So for now I'll just call it weird, maybe something can be found in the logs why this happened.

    Semi works;

#1 (Blu ray), DXVA2 always gives the described problems, no matter what settings. Quicksync (hardware acceleration) works but causes stutters/out of sync (in live tv) no matter what settings. Because I can't use different settings for both blu-ray and tv this problem is still persistent. The stutters sometimes happen right when you change channels, sometimes within 5 min. Once you got these stutters they won't go away. This maybe an issue with the intel drivers and/or MP, I simply don't know. However I do know these stutters with quicksync were always there as I've experimented with it before; Win7 + MP1.5 plus Win8 +MP1.5 and now Win8 + MP1.5 and was even able to reproduce this on several htpc's so it's not just this one.

#3 and #4 nothing to report, still there and unsolved. But I'm sure at least the remote worked on 1.5 perfectly fine.

please post full debug logs after you experience the crash. Simply run the WatchDog tool and select option 3.

Made two logs, had no more time this weekend to do it any better, but:

#4 Got a clear and easy report of inserting a music cd, hit fast-forward, hit play and reset to zero instead of playing from that particular point.
Also going 1 time fast forward and 1 time backwards won't solve it and still can't playback from that point, in this case the timing gets all messed up.

Also about quicksync I tried to get an as good as example as I could... it's a mild form but still stutters and sound out of sync. Changed channels a few times, saw the stutters a few times, even going back the same channel sometimes it's gone, sometimes it's there but once it's there it won't go away till you change channels and it looks like the stutters and sync problems worsen over time. In this case I let it play the TV stream for about a minute before I closed MP down to make a log. These stutters are gone with DXVA2 but obviously I can't use that due blu-ray problems... it's one thing or the other. If you can't find it/see it i might try to find a more severe stutter some time when I got more time on my hands.

    Note: turned all plugins off
