    Hi,
Do you have any of the failed recordings listed in Recorded TV (MP Home -> Television -> Recorded TV)?

    Regards

    Hi,
Have added the bug to Mantis, haven't found a way to let my sqlexpress accept the Hebrew characters yet, so not able to reproduce it...

    Hi

Do you think this issue could be related to Microsoft SQL Server. Is it maybe worth will reinstalling with MySQL 5. I tried to brows the DB for Hebrew characters to see if it saves them correctly but I could not find where the data is saved. My data base knowledge under Windows very limited. The only Data base I have worked with was in console mode under Linux

Just a guess, maybe TsWriter.ax is not handling Hebrew charachers in the file names correctly?

    Hi,
Since the title it's shown & everything seems ok & it should record it, i dunno where this stops. The developers can add more logging to determine where it happens, most likely in file writer, but as i'm writing i actually can reproduce it!!! ;) so i don't think another db will make a difference.
The rec here made the folder עולמו של אלמו-57 , but nothing more then the xml file in it

    Regards

I am very sorry but there is nothing we can do about it since the hebrew alphabet can't be converted to the latin one which can be used for filenames without problems.
This only works reliable if the epg is in latin letters

    Hi Gemx

Thank you for your assistance with this issue. As I have mentioned above I have used the file naming conventions to force only a Date and time as the file name which acts as a good workaround . This only becomes an issue when browsing files on the disk or with other applications it a bit hard to identify recordings . I unfortunately do as I have MPV's on other TV's

The following is for purposes of discussion and not complaining

Writing files with Hebrew characters in filename is possible and I think you may have been a bit quick to disregard it

Here are two facts that prove the above to be correct

    • MP V0.2.2.0 recorded files off a Hebrew EPG with Hebrew characters in the file name. I'm not sue but somewhere between V0.2.3.0 RC1 and TVE3 this bug appeared. I have never used older versions but my friends do.

    • MP was successful in opening a folder with the Hebrew characters as the folder name and MP wrote a XML file with the name of the show also made up of Hebrew characters inside the Hebrew folder . The only thing that failed was the writing of the ts and mpg files.

Further more excluding Hebrew is small issue we are a small country but I Imagen the same issues will affect other non Latin based languages eg Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc.....

Another issue that is also of importance I should point out. Even though the mpg or ts files were not written to disk no error was reported by the system not in the GUI or in the log files. Surly the fact that the file not being written to disk is enough of a reason to declare the recoding as failed

Again this was proposes of discussion and improvement I am a new user and have no interest to offend anyone. MP is a great software and I look forward to both working with it and contributing in the future

    thanks

Could please test again with the attached TsWriter.ax file?
Just stop TvService and replace the attached file.
Then try to schedule a recording with hebrew title and see if this works.
I noticed that not all functions where a file is created use the unicode version, so i changed that.
Please let me know if this works so i can add it to SVN
