No recording file on Disk (2 Viewers)

Hi,
gemx, did a fast test with the TsWriter(with Hebrew title) & it didn't work, it makes the folder with correct name (prog title - channel name) + that xml(with program description) file correct but no recorded file found.

TV.log attached, rec started @ 12:08:08

Hello from Spain,
First of all, congratulations for this great project & team!
Although I am using latin alphabet (Spanish), I am having similar problems because of accents and other special characters being included in EPG titles. Video files are not being saved, when #title# is included in the folder&file name (no problems otherwise).

I guess this situation will be applicable for all non-english languages (french, italian...)
Is there any option to change EPG titles, and force EPG to avoid these special characters?

Just had another look at this issue.
It seems there is a problem with mixing the reading directions of the complete filename.
A part of the filename is in the Latin alphabet (left to right) and a part is in Hebrew (right to left).
What i have found so far is that normally NTFS has full unicode support but you may not mix the codepages in one filename.
Only thing that came to my mind is replace all non latin characters by their hex-representation like "FE3F" or something.
This would always work but if the filename (not the path) only contains these characters you won't be able to identify the file in the filesystem or MyVideos (at least not in filesystem view).
I don't think that is an option!?

Must correct my first made assumption.
It is possible to mix the charsets for a filename.
Could you please check if there are only problems if the filename contains chars that are invalid for a filename like ' , ? etc. and that creation of the file is not failing for all Hebrew names?

thanks for all the effort

I checked the EPG none of the shows I tried to record have special chars. All use straight forward Hebrew alphabet

I did find your comment about the right to left issue interesting.. One of the issues we are always having problems is writing things that have both Numbers (Latin chars) and Hebrew (Hebrew chars) in the same text. In most cases you can type it but is very hard to get the formating correct.

For example in GB- PVR I always got names in backwards formating "Time - date - name.mpg" where it was supposed to have been "name-date-time.mpg" you can see screen-shot bellow with files reorded by GB.

What I do recommend that maybe is that possibly the problem dose lie in the fact that the name includes both Hebrew text and Latin numbers. I have tried setting MP to use only title but this fails as well but maybe you have a newer version that deals with the Unicode better.

something else that I would also suggest looking into is the folder and XML are created correctly even though I sure the code opening the viodeo file is difrent the same mechanism should work for the video file.

It seems I have the same issue here in Germany. I tried to record the boxing championchip match between Klitschko and Ibragimov. The OSD title was:

RTL Boxen: 'Simply the the best!' - Wladimir Klitschko vs. Sultan Ibragimov: Die Titelvereinigung im Schwergewicht

As you can see, some special characters especially the single quotes.

There is an entry in the "recorded TV" section, but when I try to start the video, nothing happens. When I check the filesystem I can only see the existing directory, written a little bit differently. It doesn't contain anything:

RTL Boxen_ 'Simply the best!' - Wladimir Klitschko vs. Sultan Ibragimov_ Die Titelvereinigung im Schwergewicht-RTL Television

tswriter.log says, that the file could not be created:

Even Windows itself is not able to create this file. Maybe the filename is too long. This should be checked by MP

Microsoft SQL does not work with utf-8 at all.
I use MySQL and I have no problem recording with Hebrew titles.
