The thing is: you have keep MePo running to see that slider in the mixer, so either make sure it's in the background, in a window or minimized when you open the mixer.
It's really a strange issue which I didn't expect - and would not have found it without help - but afterwards it made sense.

I know which slider you talking about. It's the app specific mixer volume. I did check it when MP was running and it was indeed set to the max.
