Hi Helmut,
it's getting better! After installing the latest SVN and reenabling the BASS engine I finally get sound from all my video files.

The problem is that my avi files with AC3 5.1 audio stream are transfered to my receiver as stereo. This does not happen when using the DirectShow engine for the music player.

Curiously my ripped DVDs now do perfectly transmit their audio stream, wether AC3 or DTS.

As I have setup the same decoders for movies and for DVDs in the config utility I don't really understand where this last problem could occur from. Any ideas?

Nevertheless a big THANK YOU for the effort you put into this...

I didn't free the BASS engine on DVD playback.
It's done now, with the latest svn.
grab a svn build done after 13:00 today and give it a try

Hi,

I just tried the latest svn (01-04-2007: 20.02) and it is improving but not quite there yet. With BASS enabled and starting up MP i can now play a DVD from the harddisk and get sound over SPDIF.

BUT whenever i play an MP3 file and THEN return to play a DVD, sound over SPDIF is lost again and does not return until a restart of MP...

Hope this helps !

I still have the same problem. Thing is not only that the spdif doesn't give pcm after dvd playback but also that the actual mp3 doesn't start playing. Counter stays on zero.

    Cheers,
    Henry

That is strange. Because I have the other thing around.
I play an mp3, sound pcm ok
I play ripped DVD, sound DD ok
    I go back to play mp3, mp3 doesn't play
I go back to dvd, sound turns on again to DD.

    Hi Helmut,

    Here you go.

    I did:
    Play music
Play my video (ripped dvd through deamon) dolby digital
    Play music (it didn't)
Back to video (resume movie) and sound with dolby digital

    Cheers,
    Henry

    Henry Mac,

you're not really started a DVD, like aal did, you did mounted a dvd image with daemon tools, as you stated correctly above.
this is different to what aal did.
somehow daemon mounted dvd images are treated differently and i didn't release BASS before playing it.
need to search how this is done.

will try to fix it tonight.

    Hi,

Thanks for looking into this. I have reproduced the issue. Here are the log files. What i did:

    Deleted all log files
    Started MP
Played a DVD from the harddisk (DD sound ok)
    Stopped DVD playback
Entered My Music and played MP3 file
    Stopped MP3 playback
Went back to My Videos and played same DVD (no DD sound anymore)
    Stopped DVD playback
    Exited MP
    Restarted MP
Played a DVD from the harddisk (DD sound ok)
    ...

    Hope this helps !
