Just found the same problem with 1.1.0 Final after it has been working ok for a week after installation. Tried removing tv card and reinsert to get Windows to recognise it again. No luck curing problem in MediaPortal. Then read a thread that suggested a full hard drive for the folder where TimeShift files are located could be a problem. Had spare disk capacity, so wasn't that. BUT made me think about ability of TV server to access Timeshifting folder. I had changed File Sharing security rights the night before. Timeshifting folder previously has Full Control rights for EVERYONE user inherited from disk root directory. After changes I had made to the root directory security settings, TimeShifting folder only had read, list, execute rights. Made me think what USER dictates what security rights TV server has over timeshifting folder. Couldn't work this out from quick forum search, so decided to return EVERYONE rights for the timeshift folder back to Full Control. Voila! Error gone and TV watching back. Same security changes caused problems with Recorded TV (nothing actually being recorded although REC indicator was on in the TV menu screen). Changed Everyone security back to Full Control for Recorded TV folder, could record again.
Note that I run MediaPortal as single seat and the user I install and run MediaPortal under has full rights and has administrator rights. So MediaPortal clearly gets its security rights elsewhere.
If developers read this, capturing this issue as a specific error type and providing a "No Write Access" message would allow users to resolve such problems quickly.
