It works for me now, think it was the server.

Yep, everything seems to be humming along now. If you get timeouts in the future just give it a few hours and try again. No need to delete the database and start over.

TVDB is back to being slow. I tried earlier in Firefox and got a "Could Not Connect. Too Many Connections" error which was a first for me. And when I can connect it takes forever for the page to load.

Whatisk,

Most likely this is not hardware but a problem with server timeouts. Last week there were some problems and it is having them again now (6AM EDT, 8/19). I notice you are on dial-up, this could exacerbate the server lag problem. The plugin is in a hurry so if it does not get a response pretty quick it moves on. I just did an update and got a timout on every series update. But if I go the the site it will load but takes a very long time (30+ seconds to display a page).

I know there seem to have been a few server issues lately, but I'm not sure if this is the case as I was watching the log in the window while importing and it never mentioned any 'can't connect' or anything else.
When I first did the import after reformatting (13th August), I did see a lot of server timeout type messages, but none during recent import tests over the past couple of days, so I can't be certain if it is the problem or not.

I'm still thinking that perhaps there is something a little weird with my setup, but can't be certain. As I have tried recreating the database using a cable connection and the same thing happened (and I didn't notice anything in the log that can be viewed in the plugin window to indicate troubles accessing the server).

My database currently is fine after using the one I was using in 0.2.2.0 stable, updating it and then manually editing it to remove references to the old banners, etc as they are now stored in a different location with slightly different names. So, to me it still seems to be an issue of the volume of updates done when creating a db from scratch.

I'll get around to trying it again soon as my concern is if I ever need to recreate the DB I will be missing a lot of info. However, for the moment I have spent a lot of time frustrated over this doing many different tests and very little enjoying my system. I'm just going to sit back for a bit as small updates look as though they go fine.

When I try again, I will report back here how it all went.
In the meantime, if there is something someone would like me to try out, let me know and I'll give it a shot if I can.

Thanks all for the help.

Still not working for me. A few hours ago some shows would get information but almost half would get "unable to find matching series". Now every single series can't find a match. Is this happening to anybody else?

TheTVDB.com is currently in a process of moving servers. So there can be different issues where the plugin doesn't work as intended.

We're on our new server now (as of 1 hour ago) and I'm focusing on the mirroring stuff now. Wait up to 24 hours for your DNS to update and then start bugging us on our forums if stuff is broken:

Also, why didn't any of you IE folks tell me my transparent PNG's were borked? :D
