Maybe it would be an alternative to running MP with admin privileges just to allow it to update OnlineVideos.

Why would you want to run MP as admin? If memory serves me right, the security settings of the onlinevideos folder (in Program Files) are adjusted at installation of onlinevideos. And if not, you can manually adjust them (give current user read/write access)

I don't, but offbyone's answer to this post made me think that was the only solution.
If access to "Program Files" is the problem, wouldn't storing the files that need updating in the "ProgramData" directory be the more elegant solution?
This may be off topic, but can this approach help me with UAC prompts when running MP Configuration or SetupTV as well?

I recently installed this plugin, and having issues with MP crashing when playing videos. Within configuration on the codecs tab, nothing is programmed, all formats are blank. How do I point Online Videos to LAV splitter?

I was hoping not to install more codec packages on my PC. Every time time I downloaded/updated generic codec packages, it hosed up the default codecs for other programs. NO more. The only updates I do these days is directly downloading LAV codecs, and those associated with MPC-HC, where I have complete control over how it's installed. Is there another way to point to a previously installed splitter without having to install SAF?

I had the same problem but fixed it by changing ffdshow video to use libavcodec for flv instead of libmpeg2, so maybe that will help you.

Many have said for years not to use codec packages. I learned the hard way reaching same conclusion. I was speaking of codec packages in general. Specifically, I see no reason the need to install a full codec package when I already have the latest desired codecs on my system. So I find this unusual there is not a way to use what I already have. Even the codec screen in media portal configuration does not require SAF, so why does this plugin need it?

@Doskabouter: I tried the "genericsitecreator" but that crashes when I enter base URL "beta.uitzendinggemist.nl" and then click "Create Regex". Any idea's ? Thanks !

Oh, and by the way, Doskabouter: the XOT plugin for XBMC features a script for handling of the beta stream (chn_nos2010.py). It contains info on how to hash the episodeID using the security key for example (LOL, the NOS trying to secure their stuff ). If you consider to create support for the beta stream (I hope so ! ), then maybe this code can save you some time. Thanks !
