Added to this post as you asked :)

The file is just an HTML page saying that the file is missing. Does anyone else have these files? I can't garauntee they'll work, but it's worth a try.

Arrgh. Sorry about that, I must have accidentally saved the output some time previously.

Does this mean you can use native Pronto CCF codes in the IR files? I didn't know that!

Yeah it can, it's part of the code that was written by Bruno Fleurette.

Ok. If that is the case there is a very cool tool from the JP1 guys called makehex which allows bulk creation of Pronto hex codes for a ton of protocols. Sadly it doesn't support the protocol I KNOW works (cause it works with my JP1 modified remote and the STB in question). It does however support other RC6 protocol variants.

I might ask over on the JP1 forums if they can add a config file for the RC6-M-20n protocol. That would solve the issue for me.

Crikey this is chewing up some time :p

    Hmm,

If anyone can help, I reckon those JP1 guys can... I have a copy of MakeHex, but I haven't gotten that far in yet.

If anyone out there is reading this and has this set top box and a pronto remote, could you learn the codes into it and then send them to us?

What about controlling the box by serial or usb? Is there a way to do that for this box? Cos now the plugin supports launching external apps for channel changing that might also be an option ... ?

I'm quickly running out of ideas on this one. I hope it doesn't remain a sticking point. I'll keep looking for answers ...

If you find anything let me know, and I'll do the same.

    Cheers,

I think I may have this resolved.

Please see this ridiculously responsive post from johnsfine from the JP1 forums.

I have attached updated IR files with the correct codes. I can verify that these work for my Pace DC420NF-5 Foxtel Digital STB with all the digits, time will tell on reliability. Blaster bud placement is very touchy and I ended up settling on a spot and inch or so to the left of the IR recieve LED sort of angled up towards it. Almost anywhere else results in substandard changes on my setup.

Currently I am using the MCEReplacement driver with the blaster on port 2 on the MCE Transceiver.

These pronto codes should (will) work with any Sky compatible STB except the irDA ones, so maybe the quick setup in your plugin should have two setups, one for Sky, and once for Foxtel Digital, so that Sky users don't get cunfused by our upsidedownunder cable provider. Up to you.

I hope this proves useful to other MP users.

Great work Ray, you've really come up with the goods.

I'll include these IR codes for both "Foxtel Digital" and "Sky" as quick setup options. I'll upload a new version of the plugin tomorrow some time. I'm waaaayy too tired to do it now.

    Thanks,

    New version: RC2

    Hey all,

I've got a new version of the plugin for you all to try. Attachment is two posts down due to bug fix.

    What's new?
    - Quick setup for known set top boxes. (Please test and supply more boxes, configs and codes)
    - Command Sequences are now called Macros. I don't know why I didn't call them that from the start! You will need to re-make your old CS files, sorry. But it's also because of the next new feature ...
    - Run external programs. You can map a button to launch another program, or use another program to tune channels on your set top box.
    - The MceIrApi.dll has been moved so it doesn't create an error in the log files.
    - Documentation has been updated for all the new bits, so make sure you read it before you dig in.
    - Other little bits and bobs.

    What's next?
Well, with the new TV engine just around the corner I'm sure I can keep myself busy. And... For all those people who still use HIP or Girder, I've got an idea that will make integration with MediaPortal all the better. It will let you continue to use HIP or Girder but will give you all the context-sensitive goodness that true integration with MediaPortal brings. But I'm yet to do a proof of concept on it, so I'll report back when I know more.

I suggest you delete your current copy of the plugin before you install this one, some files and folders have moved, some are new and some have been renamed, so it's probably best if you start again. You can however keep your .IR files, they're fine.

I'm going to lay off the updates for a week or two (unless there's a big bug).

When the next stable release is made or at least until a bit after the new tv engine is out (if those two things don't happen at the same time) I'll recompile against the stable release to ensure 100% compatibility.

Thanks again to everyone that has tested and given feedback, without you the plugin wouldn't have gotten anywhere. Especially when you consider that I personally have no need for a lot of the features in the plugin :)

As always, should you encounter a problem or come up with a suggestion, please, just drop me an email and I'll see what I can do.

And as I've said all along, I'll post the files to the proper plugin repository once a stable release is out that supports my plugin. Which won't be long now.

    Cheers,

    Bug fixes ...

Sorry guys, couple of bugs crept in to the last release.

The attached will fix the following:
    - Clear button couldn't be mapped properly.
    - External programs would be killed after 30 seconds ... There was a reason for this, but it makes no sense most of the time :)

    Sorry about that.

    Attached file should be better.

    Cheers,

    Hello,

yesterday while turning in bed I had one idea to come to me. What about a functionality in your plugin which would map to a selected button functionality of loading a saved set of mappings for the whole remote?
That way you could for example, designate one button as "shift" button which would load from the disk some other set of mappings of the remote keys, therefore "adding" a set of buttons that you could use.. In that new mapping you could link for example the same button, to return to the original mapping.
What I was basically thinking of, is how to virtually increase the number of the buttons on the remote.

This would be AMAZING ! Very GOOD idea !

I like it. Shouldn't be too hard to do ... I'll see what I can come up with.

The biggest problem I can imagine is going to be how do you set it up? How is the gui going to be workable?

I should have a new version for testing in the next couple of days.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    Cheers,
