any reason why you split it into 2 x 700mb chunks ?
if it's one huge episode then why not just rip it to one file.

Playlists sound interesting, but I'm not sure its something that will be done soon. Even more options in the dialog menu is something I think we need to avoid, and then there is the technical side of it where we would need another screen for playlist management (if using the std. playlists player and its screens we will loose the osd info unless we do yet another hack).

Know what you mean about the hacks. ;)

Don't know that I would use a playlist that much but a "Play Group" might come in handy.
You could have (yet)another regex option for "playgroup" and when you play the
one file from the playgroup all are added to a behind the scenes playlist.
I guess you would want a config option for auto-play group.
And maybe on the context menu(right click?) option to "play episode" or "play group"

Maybe this would work for ohdarklord too.

Id like to see he ablity to stack videos (puting -cd1 , -cd2, -cd3 etc at the end so media portal treats them as one movie) in the tv series plugin , would this be posible?

Anyway, I am just thinking out loud. :)

Thank you both for all the hard work,
patrick

Alright, let me just commen on the hd detection feature.

The idea is that for videos over a certain resolution (configurable in the config) you would get a little indication inside MP next to the episode (hd.png gfx is included).

This feature is currently experimental and there are a few things to be aware of.

The first time you browse your epissodes inside MP you will notice a distinctive slowleness, this is because then it is reading out all the vide resolutions. It does this on a season basis. Once it has read out the resolutions it will store them in the db, so the next time you browse to your season it should be just as fast as before. Each video takes about .2 secs. to open and get the resolution from, so if you have 20 episodes in a season the first time it might take up to lets say 5 seconds to display them.

Another thing to note is that if you use upscaling filters (like in ffdshow) the plugin wil lget the resolutions wrong (and likely detect all videos as HD). I'm really unsure if this can be circumvented at all. The solution is this: Open the configuration and click on force vide resolution update (before you do so, disable the upscaling filter in ffdshow). Then let the plugin read out hte resolutions and re-enable the filter. If you do so you can also avoid the slowness when browsing a season for the first time. Please be aware though that getting a video resolution for 1000s of files is going to be slow. Hopefully this will only need to be done once though.

Unfoturnatly this means that if you do use upscaling filters you will need to manually go into configuration each time you get a new episode (and new episodes that are upscaled will wrongly be marked as hd requiring a rescan of all episodes again from the configuration and with the manual disabling of the filter). I am thinking of letting the user input a special upscaling ersolution in the configuration (like if you upscale to 1279x719 instead of 1280x720) then the plugin could ignore those values which would at least avoid marking new episodes as wrong. But it would still require a rescan of new episodes manually from the configuration and after disabling the filter.

You can of course disable this feature altogether (as it is by default).

It was so they would fit onto cds as when i done them not all my computers had dvd rom drives or were connected to my network.

I suppose as only two of my videos need this and not many others need it, i could just re-rip them or edit the two halfs together.

Ok, the real 0.9 is released (with a DLL!)
I also added 2 fixes I worked on in the meantimes. So here's the updated changelog:

    0.9
    - log is cleared on each run now
    - taking pretty name in account for series sorting (and it also uses local names if no pretty name is found). It also does a case insensitive sort now (wasn't the case before)
    - added try/catch around the banner loading in the configuration window to prevent crashes when the file isn't found.
    - inker: fixed issue with playing files in locations without write acess
    - inker: Added option to display a random Banner
    - inker: added an option to test in a file is HD or not
    - Log added in forom subs retriever
    - the MP choose dialog now displays the item being matched instead of the (static) title. It helps :)

Sorry to be a PITA, but any idea about not being able to delete episodes? The only thing stopping me from giving a 10/10.;)

    Great plugin!

I have placed my MP databases in a shared directory to be able to have multiple computers looking in the same dbs. In an upcoming release, will you be using Config.Dir.Database in this plugin instead of hardcoded paths to use the path that is set in Mediaportaldirs.xml?

Sorry it took so long, with the holidays and a new born daughter my schedule doesn't really allow me to spend more time on the plugin. But don't worry I'll try to keep on top of things even if no new features are getting done for a while.

    Thanks for the new version.

    sounds like a good idea.
