    I have a, rather annoying, problem.

    My series files are on NAS, which needs about one - two minutes after system start (htpc system), to be available. By this time, the plugin has already decided that the drive is not available and the plugin is "empty" (well, not really empty, but the files are not displayed), so I have to make a local scan. Everytime. Takes about 10 minutes.

    This was first introduced in 0.6 (I guess....). Maybe there is a possibility to make a short delay before scanning for files - maybe even configurable ? Otherwise this is really nasty... ;-)

    I haven't yet started using this plugin but I ran into the same problem with MediaPortal in general. I decided that I needed to delay MediaPortal from starting until I had a chance to map the network drive on each boot (this solves the problem of MediaPortal not seeing the files on the server). I also needed to delay the mapping of the network drive until my computer finished establishing a wireless connection to my network. My solution is the following.

    1. Disconnect network drive (so Windows will not auto connect the drive on every boot.)

    2. Create a batch file named Startup.bat. I saved my file in "My Documents" and then created a shortcut to it in the Startup folder located in the Start Menu. You could also just save the file in the Startup folder in the Start Menu.

    3. Tell MediaPortal to not start automatically on Windows bootup.

    4. Populate the batch file with the following:

    @ECHO OFF
    cls
    Echo PLEASE WAIT....STARTING MEDIAPORTAL
    rem The following line causes an approx 60 second delay
    ping 127.0.0.1 -n 60 >NUL
    net use <driveletter>: \\<servername>\<sharename> /PERSISTENT:NO
    start "" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.lnk"

    5. The last line (beginning with "start") contains the full path the the MediaPortal shortcut located in the Start Menu. If your shortcut is located somewhere else, the edit the line to point to your shortcut file.

    Hopefully this helps.

    Installed the directX update (you can get this via the microsoft download center it is NOT listed in autmatic updates and released yesterday!!!). There is NO NEED TO INSTALL THE COMPLETE SDK!!!

    I installed the directx update and the PNG file inside the root banners directory and all works fine now :) This plugin really does MP for me :)

    Ah ok, thats good to know. Thanks for testing this.

    NP, thanks for creating ths magnificent peace of work :)

    I got one error: Can't find AVI index

    When do you get this error and what does the log say? Does the file still play? I'm going to have to assume its a corrupt file/download which screwed up the index. It's just weird because if it still opens the resoultion should be able to be read out. Don't think theres much I can do about it.

    Yeah i think it is an corrupted download also. Im not really bothered by it. If it happens again i will lokk further into it. All m files parsed perfectly, excluding one so no big deal here :)

    Is there any chance of this plugin replacing/co existing my videos?

    MP-TVSeries -->> My Documentaries idea???

    Hi, I Love this plug in it makes it so much easier to navigate all the series I have and the graphical look etc is great.

    Thanks Inker (and any others) for all your hard developement work.

    My "Idea" is simple (said the non developer). I'd like to be able to have exactly the same rich feature set but run a "My Documentaries" & "My TV Series". So basically the same plugin but referencing a different DB. So it doesn't get too confussing for other users of my MediaPortal. I had a quick play and renaming the DLL is obviously not enough to trigger the use of a different DB. This would allow me to display my Documentaries in one screen and real series in another. Doco series have a tendency to be shorter running and therefore more numerous, which increases the better halfs annoyance levels.

    Is there any easy way to make it possible to run multiple instances of this great plugin? Maybe copy rename DLL and use the "Display Name" as the DB name? Alternative idea would be to just add an extra layer above series and allow you to select that on import eg TV Series; Kids Shows; Documentaries; Wifes Soaps ????????? Potentially easier as it would remain in one plugin and one DB.

    Thanks in Advance for any work on this idea or just general maintenance on this plugin.

    Great Work

    I like this idea! I dont even know if it needs to have retrieval capabilities as a lot of the docs i have are pretty obscure and i have no idea what database would have information on them??

    This plugin is working like a charm for me, absolutely the first thing i show off when guests come to visit! My only request still, is some way of showing the ep length or size in the plugin when browsing through eps so i can see which ones are backed up and which ones are actually there!

    No promises on a timeline.....but we are currently aiming at enabling the scenerio with the docus and many many more scenarios. With the db so many things are possible, it is just a matter of exposing them in a nice way to give power to users without making it overly complicated. For those scratching their heads right now...I am talking about different configurable views on your data (like group by genre/actors...or... show episodes from all scifi-series sorted by their airdate...or whatever).

    That being said, would you guys prefer having maximum power over exactly what to display and how (well....in the realm of whats available in the db) or would you say simplicity of setting up these things is key...which would enable many scenerios too but probably not all. Would you be opposed to being required to enter parts of sql statements in the first release of this feature to setup custom views?

    Again, don't hold your breaths.....time is short, we are talking weeks here and not days.

    I am in favour of simplicity. To much functionality, to many areas that require 'special' knowledge might do this fantastic plug-in more harm than good.
