Cool, I will add Gun Metal Wide & BleazleWide to the list. Any others?

Re: [plugin] "My NetFlix" Plugin with Watch Now Support

    Wile E,
Installed 1.1 RC1 last night, looks great and works very well. I am running it on XP SP3 MP 1.0.2 Blue3wide. One QA catch, I did not have a hover_netflix.png file to put the netflix logo on the main screen but because I had a previous version I just renamed the “mynetflix” file to Netflix so the logo is back.

An observation, I am just learning the new interface but when I select a movie sometimes it brings up a “fan-art” background, sometimes it brings up the empty theater default background, sometimes it is just blue?

Not sure if I can change or adjust this in any way but the text description of the movie is white or light against a very light background, any way to make it opposite (high contrast) from the background?

Overall I like the revamped look and feel of the plugin and really like the look of the “filmstrip” view…
    Great Job!
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Thanks for the feedback Dave!

ooops... I created a new build package for the new version, and forgot to put the hover pics in... They will be in the next version :)

An observation, I am just learning the new interface but when I select a movie sometimes it brings up a “fan-art” background, sometimes it brings up the empty theater default background, sometimes it is just blue?

I was hoping this wouldnt pop up. This is my first shot at using facade views and I was wondering if this might be a problem. I think I know exactly where it is happening, I will take a look this weekend and pinpoint the issue. (I am assigning the cover control directly if no backdrop was downloaded. I need to just set a default backdrop in the xml, blue in your case, and do away with the direct assignment of the control if there is no backdrop.)

Not sure if I can change or adjust this in any way but the text description of the movie is white or light against a very light background, any way to make it opposite (high contrast) from the background?

Which view is this? Maybe I can add an overlay under the text to make it more readable.

One of my main focuses on this version was make it skin specific. In prior versions I included my own image files and in some cases it didnt fit with the skin, as well as made the package very large in size. With this version Im trying hard to use the skin files & images of each skin to make it 'fit' better. I use the Moving Pictures xml files as templates from each skin, which makes development easier in some cases but very difficult in others.

    Thanks again for the feedback!

Again, if anyone has some spare time and can skin, I could really use some help :)

Could you look into the Zip attachment as I think there are files missing. There is no exe in the package.
I am unable to use the installer since I use the Latest SVN.
I can launch and view my Netflix status and list movies, but I cannot play anything since it cannot find the exe.
In fact the entire browser directory appears to be missing in the plugins directory.

    Hey Mark,
Sorry, I only included the dll & skin files in the zip file. I didnt include the NetFlix_Remote folder because I figured most that would want to test would be upgrading and already have that folder. I can include it in the next build.

I have attached it here for your convienience. Please extract to the C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins folder.

    Thanks,
    Wile E.

    Update...

I just uploaded RC1a to the first post. It includes these changes:

    - Added Gun Metal Wide skin support
    - Added Bleazle Wide skin support
    - Fixed bug with backdrops not showing correctly
    - Added Hover art to the new install package
    - Added the Netflix_Remote folder to the zip package

Try it out and let me know of any bugs. Thanks...

Is there a netflix plugin that works? This thing doesn't. None of the buttons on the right seem to do anything. I can search for a movie, then select it and have info show up on the left hand side of the screen. Then sometimes the episode list will disappear. But regardless, there's not a play button or any way to add a movie to the queue.

i'm using a brand new mediaportal install. nothing extra installed except netflix.

would give anything for something intuitive.

    Charles.

Any other votes that this plugin is a piece of crap? Should I just scrap it and start over or just give up all together? :p

Seriously though, if you truly want help there are many folks here that would be more than happy to assist you. But the best way to get assistance is not by insulting the author and his/her plugin. IMHO MediaPortal is geared more for the HTPC fanatic, so my first suggestion would be to learn how MediaPortal works, then move on to plugins & be sure to read the readme/instructions for each plugin. Otherwise I would recommend loading Windows Media Center and insulting the Microsoft guys over at the Green Button.

Okay, now that I vented on to your issues...

    - No way to add to the queue - This plugin is VERY context menu driven. Which means when you have a list item selected you can hit F9 or the 'i' (info) button on your MCE remote to see the context menu. That menu will have the selections to add to your queue(s), play the movie, etc. The context menu's will change depending on the type of movie (Bluray, DVD or Instant Watch) to allow you to add to your DVD queue or Instant queue (All this is outlined in the Readme.pdf file on the first post of this thread.)

    - When you click an item in the list nothing happens - this should either show the details for the movie or show the episodes for the series (depending on what type of movie it is.) This plugin uses the NetFlix 1.0 API, so it can be slow at times, when you click an item you may not see an immediate result. Wait a few seconds and it should either show you the details or episodes.

Also, when posting, its good to post your logs and note which Skin and versions of MediaPortal & the Plugin you are using. That way the author has some idea where to start looking if it is truly a bug.

Making a mental note not to help you wherever you pop up in the forums on account of being a jackass.

There are obviously a lot of us here using this with no trouble which you would know if you bothered to read. Perhaps you should look inward to fix your problems.

Big thanks to Winterescape, he caught a naming error on the RC1a files on the first post. I have corrected the filenames and reposted.

Also, you only need to download the zip file if you are using an SVN later than 12/25/2009. If you are using an earlier SVN or MP 1.0.2 or earler, please use the install file (Its much easier.)
