Re: [plugin] "My NetFlix" Plugin with Watch Now Support

First off this pulgin is awesome! I am completely new to HTPC and Mediaportal so please bare with me.

I just installed Mediaportal 1.1 RC2 and Streamed MP and Mynetflix 1.0.3. Everytime I click on a movie to play instant it seems to take forever to load up and then when it does finally start playing I have very little control of my keyboard and have a hard time switching back to other areas of MP like listen to music. I would have to exit out of everything and then relaunch MP to be able to use the other feastures again.

Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong or is this normal?

Thanks!

Re: [plugin] "My NetFlix" Plugin with Watch Now Support

UPDATE: Ok so I think I may have figured it out… for some reason when I Check the disable Autokey Script it plays movies almost instantly which is exactly what I was looking for.

1) My problem now is I still can't seem to control my screen when in the Netflix player window. For example if I start a movie and I want to exit it and go back to my MP homescreen how exactly do I do that with my keyboard.. I tried ctrl e and it doesnt do anything nor do any of the keyboard commands listed on page 1 of this thread.

2) If I purchased a MCE remote, would I be able to do things such as enter full screen mode in the Netflix player by hitting a button on the remote? Would I be able to exit the Netflix window and return back to my MP menu?

    Hey fk00gsr,
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you have figured out some of your issues. As for the other issues...

    1. ALT-F4 will close the Netflix Window. The CTRL-e is only if the autokey script is running, and if you have it disabled it would not allow it to be passed through.

    2. Yes, the MCE remote will allow you to close the window (the stop button) regardless if the autokey scripts are running or not. It will not, however, allow you to enter full screen mode. Only the autokey scripts can put the movie in full-screen...

You may already be aware of this, but if the autokey scripts are running, it will take over control of your keyboard. So the keys mapped will no longer be available for use on the keyboard (this is why the autokey scripts, if enabled, only run when a movie is playing. After the stop button on the remote is pressed it kills the autokey script processes.)

hmm so no way to get it to full screen via my remote? Is there a reason it takes about a min and a half to get the netflix window open after I click the movie when I have Autokey scripts enabled?

Hopefully when I install it on my main PC it will work faster otherwise ill have to come up with a way to get a full screen option via my remote somehow. *wish there was to have your remote highlight the full screen button just like you do when you navigate a dvd menu*

    Hey fk00gsr,
I am not aware of why there would be a delay. The window should open immediately (at least all mine do) and start playing the movie. Maybe something is conflicting with your autokey scripts? Do me a favor and clear your logs, replicate the error and post your MediaPortal.log and Error.log files. Please submit the complete files and not just segments of the files.

The limitation to the full-screen feature is due to the NetFlix Silverlight application. If NetFlix were to build that (and a few other features, i.e. RW, FF, etc...) into the application it would be nice...

The log files are explained here -> TV-Server/troubleshooting-logfiles - MediaPortal Manual Documentation

You can just delete the files, then open MP and recreate the issue, then close MP and zip the log files and attach them here. You can also search the forums for answers to your log file questions, many people have asked questions about the log files. After all, we were all new to MP at some point :)

    Thanks,

    Wile E.,
With 1.1 for some reason I now consistently have to manually click on "full screen" when a show starts. This happened occasionally before, see prior post, seemed to be content dependent, but now it is all the time. It jumps to full screen and then jumps back to smaller during "buffering" message from Netflix.
MP 1.0.2 with Netflix 1.1. MP log attached.

    Hey Winterescape,
Your logs unfortunatly dont show anything wrong. I wonder if there is another process that is kicking it out of full screen? For example, if you open a NetFlix movie (full screen), and then open something (like windows exporer) it will kick the movie out of full-screen mode. I wonder if there is a process running that is kicking silverlight out of full-screen mode?

Once it goes full-screen, the mouse goes to the bottom right corner of the screen, and there are no commands to take it out of full-screen mode (that Im aware of.)

    Wile E.,
Hmmm O.K. I opened several movies and watched the sequence. I know nothing about how the script executes but it looks like a race condition. Just a guess.

It seems to 1) acquire content license 2) buffer 3)play. If the script makes it full screen before it finishes buffering it seems to snap back to windowed mode after buffering is complete. On some films it took a long time to acquire the content license and it stays full screen until the buffering stage starts. Not sure if this is unique to my system. Not a big deal but it used to work. I can't think of any other process that is running or new to my system. Anything new with this version that could affect it? :D
