Re: [plugin] "My NetFlix" Plugin with Watch Now Support

I know people using Apple TV's and smartphones in Canada to view netflix, so I don't see why the plugin could not be made to work relatively easily as long as everything is similar to the US site.

Apple TV and others have 'partnered' with Netflix to provide the service to their customers. This 'partnership' goes beyond the open API Netflix has offered to the general public. Since the API is limited, I cannot sort which movies are available to the US and which ones are available to Canada.

When the API is available to use for Canada, I will be happy to accomodate the My NetFlix app.

I see. I thought they had everything open that developers would need. Why can't companies just make everything open? It's so much better for technology. The thing is, I would pay for the netflix account if this worked in MP. So it's their loss.

... I’ll just use my Internet Launcher in Kiosk Mode with my handy AutoHotKey solution for my media remote…

Since it is disappointing that Netflix.ca is not forthcoming with the API info I am looking for an alternative. jrbynum can you explain a little further on your "interim solution"?

Yes, basically I wrote a plugin that launches Internet Explorer in kiosk mode (full screen mode) and I run a AutoKotKey script which emulates the mouse using my media player remote. I do that because I don't usually have a mouse and keyboard hooked up to my HTPC. My plugin in built specific to my needs as I launch and monitor several other things, but you could use the MultiShortcut plugin to do the same thing. Just use it to run internet explorer with this command "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe -k www.netflix.ca", to exit internet explorer in kiosk mode you can use alt-F4. I have an AutoHotKey script setup to trap one of my remote keys to shut it down and also emulate the mouse. It works but it would be nice to be able to use WileECoyote's Netflix plugin... its a great plugin. I have my Dad's HTPC running it. He lives in the states.

Also, the websites are different… for instance, there is no watch now queue at the Canada Netflix site. At least, not yet.

    Hey Vaz,
I would be happy to work with you on this. I am currently working on version 2 of this plugin. Version 1.x is currently not compatible with Canada at all. The new version will allow users to turn off certain features, such as DVD Queue, At Home Queue, etc... Once I get it to a good point I will share it with you and you can modify it for the Canadian versions.

    Thanks,
    Wile E.

Play/pause buttons on my MCE remote don't work in this plugin, but the stop/ffw/rewind buttons do. Play/pause works when watching videos just fine. Suggestions?
