I'm trying to get this to work but I ran into a brick wall. After adding Zap2itPlugin.dll to the MediaPortal\Plugins\Process folder I open up MediaPortal Setup, enable the plugin, and click configure. I'm not sure where I screwed up but every time I do that I get an error with these details:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system>
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Re: zap2it plugin fails with System.Net.Sockets.SocketExcept

Disabling the firewall didn't help. Google turned up another article that suggested that winsock might be corrupted (although that also seemed like an unlikely possibility since so many other programs making tcp connections work), but netdiag didn't return any errors, either. I'm out of ideas again :(

While it is likely to be something particular to your setup I'd like to find a way to solve it if at all possible. All I'm doing is communicating via SOAP which is XML over port 80 just like a web request (except it is XML instead of HTML).

However, since all the examples show this issue only when using asychronous calls and although I'm using them in my code for convenience I don't absolutely need them so I'll try using synchronous calls in the next build, won't make any difference to the experience but maybe it will fix your issue. Either way, it is worth a try :)

The lateset build worked like a champ -- thanks!

This plugin works great, thanks for the time spent on writing this.

If you get a chance, I'd like to make one request. It appears the plugin doesn't handle multiple channel lineups. I have two lineups in my zap2it account and only one is used for MediaPortal. But the plugin downloads data and adds channels for both lineups. I can't seem to prevent it from adding the channels back in each time.

Using the xmltv config, if 2 lineups are available it asks which one to use, and ignores the other lineup. If you were to add this feature - just a drop down box where you select your lineup number (0,1,2...) - it would solve this problem.

    A workaround for now would be just to create two zap2it accounts, one just for MediaPortal.

    This would be more efficient because all your lineups are downloaded each time (with XMLTV and my plugin) and then we have to throw away all the data for lineups you don't want to use. This can mean half the data is ignored!

    Yeah this is what I ended up doing, and it's working great. I didn't realize all the data was downloaded anyway -- I certainly did notice the plugin finishes downloading a lot faster than I was used to.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
    <system>
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    I have the exact same issue...and in fact it then gives me an error and shuts down config altogether!

    I tried a fresh installation of RC4 with clean folders and registry but that didn't help. My firewalls down and no antivirus, at this point I can't think of anything else to try. The plug-in seems to be working though, because when I leave it enabled MediaPortal gives me an error telling me to configure my EPG information, I just can't get into the configurer.

    I'd recommend running a newer build than RC4 from http://svn.team-mediaportal.com/. There have been a HUGE number of bugfixes since RC4 that are now in the SVN builds including a couple for the EPG :)

    That did it, thanks! Excellent plugin, I was really hoping for this.

    I'm still using 1.2a for the hell of it. It works great. Thanks alot JonathanB.

    Also, XMLTV has downloaded channel icons for me. Im not sure if they were from zap2it or another source though. May have just googled them for all I know. The first time I used xmltv it grabbed all the channel images and put them here "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\share\xmltv\icons". I had to rename them all and put the channel number and a space in front of the file name to make it match the channel name exactly. Then move them to C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Thumbs\TV\Logos
