    did a short "test" yesterday

runs but not stutterfree (@ Sky-HD)
but for the test i only install PDVD10 nothing more

    will try now SAF5 + BluRayHandler-Plugin
hope that'll work smooth and stutterfree (without "Manfred" :D )

    Energy-cons. :

    while start 33-35 Watts
    idle 29-30 Watts
    watching MKV HDTV 34-36 Watts
watching HDTV Live-TV (ARD HD & SKY CInema HD) 38-40 Watts

with passiv cooling. :D (CPU temp between 53-55 °C)

    regards

    have to bring an update-
after installing only PowerDVD10 MKII and Haali-MediaSpliter

all works fine and good ... no stuttering @ HDTV or MKV - Containers ...

and always hard under 40 Watt as a pure client in a Multiseat constellation
    (between 32-36 watt)

    - WD Blue 2.5" 500 GIG recordings
    - both HDD's in a mobile rack
    - Digital Devices mini-PCIe Flex-Board
    - Digital Devices Duo-Flex S2 (2x = 4 HD Tuners :D)

    Case:
planned and orderd is a SuperMicro 512L-200

If I remember correctly Windows 7 Starter does not support Aero, which is recommended for use with MP. Same for Home Basic I think.

I did some testing with Starter some time back, but ended up going back to HP, but can't remember why.

Also, you can't buy Windows 7 Starter, you'll need a technet subscription to get ahold of it.

thats true ... hmmm i also use win7 HP on the TV-server ...

but win7 starter does work - i have MePo installed on my
    Samsung N130 single-core atom (N230) netbook with win7 starter ...
    works good so far ...

hmm ok just did some hardware tuning on it
change the HDD (original a 5400rpm HDD now an Intel X25 SSD does the job)
soldered in a second miniPCIe port so i have 150Mbit Wlan & a Crystal HD mPCIe for HD content
:) but no cpu overclocking ...
ah and a bigger accu - now have freedom for about 7-12 hours without a powercord/wallsocket.

but the benefit of Win7HP is better on the server - ;)

    regards

    EDIT :

    for the thread - semi-passive :D

It's been a long time that I updated some things here.
New project is my passive Quad Tuner TV server.
It'll consist of the following parts:
Housing: Lian Li Mini ITX PC Q07 ( around 50€)
Motherboard: Jetway LC NF 95 ( used from my older rig)
TV Card: TBS 6984, DVB-S2 Quad Tuner PCI ( around 200€ , which is quite expensive )
    4 GB Ram
    64 GB SSD
1 TB 3,5 " ( leftover from an old ICY NAS BOX)
1 x miniPCIe to PCIe adaptor
    no optical drive

Here are some pics of the enclosure:
    pc-q7-21.jpg

Here you can see how much space it offers and the planned ventilation
    pc-q7-19.jpg

Since there is no extra PSU necessary, the space is left for better cooling elements than the genuine ones.
Plan ist to use Northbridge Coolers which fit the measurement :
one Thermalright HR 55 for the GPU, cause the GPU one produces lotta heat although not used for a server is becomes pretty much warm.
    51yfNPSYLIL.jpg

the other two for CPU and Northbridge are from EKL ( Alpenföhn Ötzi)

I hope they'll arrive tomorrow that I can post some pics of the progress.
That's so far from here. Stay tuned. IEB

as presumed, the coolers cam in yesterday. since there is not the best weather outside at the moment I have found the time to assemble the coolers. The bigger one is a bit unaligned due to a big capacitor which stoods in the way of a heatpipe.
anyway, I wish I could keep goin on but unfortunatelythe flat cable of the miniPCIe 2 PCIe adapter is way too short. So I ordered flat cable and have to wait. It doesn't mak sense to put the things together yet.

Well, here ar some pics of the mounted coolers.
