Periodic Stuttering after upgrade 1.0.0 to 1.0.2 (1 Viewer)

I am having a similar problem. I have two computers both running Media Portal. One works well and one is almost unusable because of "stuttering"

Being fairly new at this I am trying to work the logs (which is how I found this thread) and will try to post a sensible comment after I have the logs running

In the meantime I just want to "start the ball rolling"

Both my computers use VISTA

Tentatively, I think I have sorted this out (for my system at least). Have removed all pictures and music off the drive that has video. So far practically no stuttering for 4 nights - best it has been for ages.

Stuttering with vmr9

Hi,

for me it doesn`t seem to be mediaportal problem: i see the same stuttering in mediaplayer-hc playing h264 movies from mkv containers.

I tried other Renderers in mediaplayer (default is vmr9) and i have a stutterfree playback with vmr7.

So the Problem is VMR9 for me - wich is used by mediaportal (don`t wanno use the other SW renderer). I tried several GFX Card Driver settings (even the smooth video playback option in the Catalyst 3.9 driver) - no changes.... what could it be ? It seems, that videoplayback stops every second for a fraction of a second....

Any ideas ?

System:
ATI Radeon 4850 with Catalyst 9.6 or 9.9, k-lite codecpack with ffmpeg in use, Reclock, WinXP, Core2Duo, Mediaportal 1.0.2 with internal refreshrate changer

TV stuttering? If so good reception is needed for most TV computer cards. I ended up using quad shield 75ohm to get rid of TV stuttering.

i have the same problem, the first 3-5 min of watching are completely without any stuttering but then it doesn´t stop... i tried to open the timeshift file on the server when the stuttering begins and its ok. The stuttering happens in the client but i can´t figure out whats causing it. Both Systems are clean and at this time only for Mediaportal....

I would be happy for every idea(sorry for my bad english)....:)

Hello everyone,

i'm trying for days, weeks maybe months :) to achieve a stable client / server install.

I have the same Problem as mixmix9999. Is there any cure for that?

I usually don't give up easily ... but now I'm hopeless.
I have searched, tried, did numerous fresh installs but I do not come any further. I hope somebody can help.

The history:

I've been using 1.0.2 for one year, pretty stable (besides some problems with missed recordings and so). First as single seat install, then switched to one server, one client built onto Vista 32. I was using a TT-3200 Budget and I tought it would be nice to add another DVB-S card. So I bought the Skymaster HD2 which did not function properly under Vista. As I was reading that XP ist possibly the better choice I tought I'll give it a try. So I installed XP SP3 on server (Core 2 Duo, E4500, 2 Gig. RAM) side, very stable and fast ... Then on the client (AsRock ION 330). As I was facing the stutterings and some holidays :), I tought I can try to "upgrade" to 1.1.0 Christmas Edition. No luck. Client freezes, no picture at all ... Not even Wireshark could tell me what the problem is. By the way the server and the client are connected to the same GBit switch.

So back to XP, clean install, updates, patches, unlocked SAF and CoreAVC 2.0. Works like a charm! Thanks to CoreAVC I could play mkv's that I could never play before! SD Television on the german channel N24 (there are some feeds on base of the screen) - smooth like a babyface. HD "is ok" ...

But there is that problem with this stuttering coming after a few minutes of watching, that drives me crazy ...
I can get rid of it only after a client rebbot (hibernate does it also most of the time).

It could be sooo easy ... :mad:

Can somebody help?

I am not sure if I have the same issue, but since upgrading from 0.2.3 to 1.0.2, if I am watching a TV program while at the same time recording that program, the TV program has a pause for about 1-2 seconds every few minutes. This pause also appears in the recorded program if I watch the recorded program at a later time. I found that the CPU load goes to almost zero during the time the TV program is paused, so it is not a CPU overload problem, but it appears that the TV card (DTV1000T) is not sending any data to MP.

This problem did not exist in MP0.2.3 using the same hardware.
This problem does not exist if I am not recording while watching live TV.
