found the solution!

In MP client > TV > Tv client > general settings. On the bottom of the window there it is.

Wake on Lan TV server as needed. Fill in the mac adress of the server and off you go!

Works like a charm.

Thanks anyway for all the help. Much appreciated. :D

AW: [Plugin] WOL-PowerManager

Hi,

Today I give you a new Update of our Plugin. We didn't make much changes since the last 0.2.1.0 Beta Version as the plugin works for us and it seems to work also for the others (no issues on the issue tracker)
I implemented the requested feature (WOL on Mediaportal startup) of Winjnand even if he now found an other way to solve this problem. Anyhow I thought it's no bad thing to implement this. Maybe it will be helpful for someone anytime.

To get a overview of the changes have a look at our changelog !

Thanks for the update, i will try it anyway.. Now I'm running into another problem. When starting Mp client pc, network connections to my MPserver are not created, since server is asleep. When I wake the MPserver by starting the client, the networkconnections are not "refreshed" on the client side. So I have to find a way to wake the MPserver BEFORE the MP software starts. Actually, the mapped network connections between client and server should be there, before Mp client software starts and so all moviedata can be found by the client on the server.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! This plugin works well until the MP is not going to sleep. After awakening to see activity in the network. The file server but do not wake up. Server is sending the magic packet to wake up. (swolcmd.exe) It works reliably. Is this thing solved? This plugin is for me the most needy.

    Hi,
    thanks for this noce plugin.

    Little idea for improvement:

It would nice to have an global variable (Label or image) to see for example in the Basic Home Screen if the server is on or not. Such a feature is integrated in the Power Control Plugin from Micropolis.

    hallo,

2011-01-22 11:12:12.151800 [ERROR][MPMain(1)]: Exception: System.Net.NetworkInformation.PingException: Während einer Pinganforderung ist eine Ausnahme aufgetreten. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: Der angegebene Host ist unbekannt

    bei System.Net.Dns.InternalGetHostByName(String hostName, Boolean includeIPv6)
    bei System.Net.Dns.GetHostAddresses(String hostNameOrAddress)
bei System.Net.NetworkInformation.Ping.Send(String hostNameOrAddress, Int32 timeout, Byte[] buffer, PingOptions options)

    bei MediaPortal.GUI.Library.GUIWindowManager.WindowActivationHandler.Invoke(Int32 windowId)
bei MediaPortal.GUI.Library.GUIWindowManager.ActivateWindow(Int32 newWindowId, Boolean replaceWindow, Boolean skipHistory)

this plugin is very nice. but i will be honest: why the hell you don t putet the mpe1 version in the first thread???
i installed it manually with the try and error method and was running in big trouble.
i copied .dll to process plugin. only the wakeup if mediaportal starts, was working. i choosed that it also should wkae up if i am entering my videos. it was n working. then i though all the time, what i should do with this MediaPortalExtension.xml???
m installer was not able to install it and in it were some instrcutions from wich i thought the plugin needs it. this was then also the case. trough coinsident i found a mpe1 version of this plugin in this tread. i installed it with mp installer and everything was fine. therefore i don t understund why you make it so much user-unfriendly!
why not put the mpe1 version to the first thread? it can help beinngers to avoide wasting time with try and error method!
there was also no manuell instruction how to install it. so you let users walk in the dark. thats not nice.
the plugin itself is very great work! its no offence, i am only be honest!

    regards

We are sorry for your inconvenience, Parkuhr. But we don't understand your critism!
Have a look at our FIRST post, there is a Download-Link to the MPE1 installation file. It's the absolutely native installation of Mediaportal Plugins, so there is no need for a special Manual.
For the configuration we made a wiki have a look:Wiki

If there are further suggestions, don't hesitate to tell us.

thanks for your answer. in the meanwhile i have also found out, that you can install this plugin also directly with mp-installer.
its in the repository online. so no need to download it as package for manual installation.
i didn t know this and discovered this plugin coninsidently.
thx for the good work! and if i have further questions, l let you know.

    best regards
