I use PS++ with Windows settings controlling standby. I've accidentally put it in standby when going to bed a couple of times, forgetting that I was recording something. Is it possible to make it go to Away mode in this situation or does a manual Standby always override everything?

It depends on what you configured as "standby" - sleep mode or hibernate. If you configured user action like the power off button for sleep mode, the PC will goto away mode instead of sleep mode, if necessary. All user action configured to hibernate, will hibernate the PC - independent of away mode requested or not. This is the reason why hybrid sleep is recommended instaed of hibernate as standby mode. This is also the default setting for plug & play mode.

I have hibernate completely disabled. I'm going to Standby via the Start Menu -> Sleep.

Then your system should go to away mode, if a recording is active. Can youtry to reproduce the situation and send me logs?

Sure, I'll set up a random recording and then try going to standby whilst it's in progress.

Hmm, there's something else not right I need to fix first. I left my PC doing a stress test with Prime95 (so 100% CPU) and when I came back it had gone to standby. If it had overheated it would have shutdown completely I think, so I don't think that's what happened but that for some reason it decided it was idle so went to sleep.

I went to open TV Server config to check the PS++ settings and for some reason TVService.exe wasn't running anyway but I don't think that would matter as Windows is meant to be in charge of standby, not TVservice or PS++.

Actually I think what might have happened is that it just went to Away mode, not Standby, so I guess that's OK. I'm not really sure how Away mode works, does it shut off the display even if the system is busy if there's no user input for x minutes?

My HTPC went to sleep already twice this morning while playing music. The most recent incident was at 9:50 (logs attached). Windows is set to "Never" sleep. Is this caused by PS++ (1.2.3.6)? If not, what then?
It seems to me (cannot exactly tell you since the client's log level is set to "warning" instead of "debug") as if your PS++ client plugin is not activated.

Thanks for the tip; on closer examination it turned out that the client plugin was missing completely. This apparently resulted from a problem restoring my plugins using BackupSettings. I had used it to save my configuration when temporarily installing MP 1.3.0 beta, but the plugins and skins were not restored properly when I reimported them. When I figured out what was wrong, I used MPEI to uninstall PS++ and reinstall it. At first this didn't seem to work, but after the second iteration of this process, everything seems to work as expected.
    Thanks again for your help!

    Hi,

with power scheduler it seems to work. But after an complete new restart first i have to start an recording. Otherwise the system doesn't go to sleep.
    I'm still testing.
