Hi, I'm new here, this is my first post.
Since Windows 10 is unlikely to include Windows Media Center, I'm looking to use MP for watching and recording TV.
I have a Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650 with a Cable Card from Charter. Working just perfect, and I see that all cable card tuners by Hauppauge are supported.
I'm currently running Win7 Ult SP1, and my system meets or exceeds the minimum requirements for MP.

At this point there are 2 questions I have.
1. Does MP care that Windows is installed on a SSD?
2. Can I tell MP on which drive to store recordings?

Thanks,
CharlesDH

    Hi and welcome CharlesDH,

. Does MP care that Windows is installed on a SSD?
MP doesn't care were it's installed, but it will be faster on an SSD (as every program will be)

    2. Can I tell MP on which drive to store recordings?
Yes you can define local folder and network shares. I run a dedicated TV Server where i store them, others use a NAS to store the recordings.
You can even specify the location per tuner ;)

    Welcome!

    1. No
    2. Yes

Do fire away with any other questions...!

    OK, I will :)
I've got TV setup running now, scanning for channels. This seems DREADFULLY slow (15 secs per ch.) and I've got 800+ channels!
    Is that normal?

Oo, I can't help with that I'm afraid, I'm UK based so not familiar with US TV. Fear not, someone clever will be along soon!

Following the walk-through, I'm just not getting anywhere. Can't get past 'scan for channels'.
I've made all the configurations indicated, but I keep getting '...signal locked, no channels found.'
I've installed the patch 185650_CableCARD_tuner_detection, upgraded the driver for the dcr-2650 to dcr_cd_ver_2.7_20141124_32338, and insured that the firewall is giving 'Media Portal', 'Media Portal Configuration', and 'Setup-Tv' access to the Internet, and rebooted.

    I need a hug! :D
