Hello,

First at all my congratulations for that great piece of software, terrific !

I have a problem with the scanning using my FireDTV DVB-C card.

I'm living in Belgium, and the transpondeurs that I 'm looking at are these one (all QAM64 & Symbolrate 6875) :

289000
297000
314000
322000
378000
466000

So, I prepared a Belgium.dvbc containing this ...

289000,64QAM,6875000
297000,64QAM,6875000
314000,64QAM,6875000
322000,64QAM,6875000
378000,64QAM,6875000
466000,64QAM,6875000

and started the scan, which gives the following results :

1tp- 289000 Mod64QAM 6875 New 6 Updated 0
2tp- 297000 Mod64QAM 6875 New 0 Updated 6
3tp- 314000 Mod64QAM 6875 New 0 Updated 6
4tp- 322000 Mod64QAM 6875 New 0 Updated 6
5tp- 378000 Mod64QAM 6875 New 0 Updated 6
6tp- 466000 Mod64QAM 6875 New 0 Updated 6
Total radio channel new 0 updated 0
Total tv channel new 6 updated 30
Scan done ...

The problems :

1) indeed they are 6 channels on 289000 ... so this looks fine
2) .. but for all the other transponders, it looks like the system is still and always scanning the first transponder !
3) .. also, all the end, the 6 channels are memorized with the frequency of the last transponder in the list, in this case 466000.

Of course I tried also a manual scan, for instance with 314000 ...and result is always the same it scans 289000 and report 6 channels updated.

This is very strange. Thanks for you help.

Greetings from Belgium

Eugène

Me again.

I just deinstalled TV Server (removing all settings) and re-installing it again.

This time I just did a manual scan using frequency 314000 and guess what ?

Scan says :

Scan Freq 3140000 Mod64Qam symbolrate 6875 ...
0) freq 394000 mod Mod64Qam symbolratate 68750
Scan done, found 1 transponders ..

Then I got the question :

Found 1 transponders. Would you like to scan those ?

I replied yes , then Scan says :

1p: 394000 Mod64Qam New:6 Updated 0
Total TV channels new 6 : updated 0
Scan done ...

And Scan again finds these famous 6 channels onto 289000 although :

1) It says that they are on 394000
2) No one tell to MP anything about this 289000 frequency !!!! How does it find it ? Is he magician ?

Last but not least, the 6 channels that it finds are working well.

What a mystery

Did you try to do a rescan after you deleted the SQL database? (used to be TVlibrary, has now another name)..

I had this once and turned out to be a database problem, deleting it and do a rescan, solved it

Thanks Lots, I deleted the DB and tried again, exactly the same result, also with the latest SVN.

So, it looks like there is bug

    Hi,
efla, attach all logs(use MP TestTool) after a scan crash so we can see where it happen.

    Hi Ronlise,

Could you please re-read my initial mail (please ask for more clarification if it is unlcear)

As you can see there is no SCAN crash, but there is issue with the incorrect scanning.

This issue is the same with RC1 and with the latest SVN

    Hi,
hehehe, my bad read it a bit fast. But please attach logs after a scan which could tell why scan "fail"(logs are needed to all "bugs" like this since it could tell what it does with the channels).

    Regards
    Roy

    Here it is Ronlise.

In this example the scan detected the 8 channels that are onto 314000 although that it says that it finds these 8 new when scanning 289000 ! It's wrong, because I'm 100% sure that these 8 channels are well on 3140000.

When it scans the other transponders , it finds again these 8 channels and marked them as updated!

lastly, in the db it lists these 8 channels as they were found on 466000 ! Strange.

    Thanks for you help

Hey efla, am I mistaken or did we talk before and are you a Voo customer ?

After having a total Vista/SP1 crash it took me over one month to get my stable setup again. In the process of experimenting, I managed to make a lot of mistakes and maybe you can profit from my experience...

Could it be that -aside from potential bugs- your signal is not strong enough ? After many bad experiences (I must have made 3 dozen complete system reinstalls before I discovered I had a faulty power supply), I have systematically done a scan using FireDTV viewer first, as it is a propietary software. Go into View - Channel Scan (do a full scan just to be on the safe side, should only take about 10 minutes or so...) If FireDTV viewer does not pick up all your channels, you have an issue. If it does, MP has an issue.

Second mistake I made (first one was not test my hardware thoroughly): upgrade the firmware of my FloppyDTV to the latest... In my case with the latest firmware and the one before, I had dropped frames in the video. The firmware from september was the only stable one (just discovered that tonight... treating myself to beer !)

Third mistake: do not mess around too much with the settings of your CAM. I have a PowerCAM and managed to screw up its config...

Thanks Lots, I deleted the DB and tried again, exactly the same result, also with the latest SVN.

So, it looks like there is bug

This look slike the problem I had with The History Channel HD.. I discovered that in the list of transponder frequencies also frequencies were included that did not belong to my cable provider. This can happen when more then one cable provider use the same cable network. Some channels are shared (most likely the FTA channels) but also some are specific for one cable TV provider.

What then happens is that one channel can be found in multiple transponder frequencies. In my case History channel was found on 826 Mhz and on 234Mhz.. the TV server dropped the 826Mhz and tried to use the 234Mhz channel.. which did not work because in that transponder History channel was scrambled for another provider then mine... So I could not watch History channel.

I solved it by deleting the 234Mhz frequency from the transponder list (xxxx.dvbc file in .../team mediaportal/Mediaportal TV server/Tuning parameters)

I dont know what dvbc file you use, but you can make one yourself in NOTEPAD.. just copy a dvbc file that comes close and add and/or delete transponder frequencies you need, save the file with another name with the DVBC extension. To find the correct list of transponder frequencies, use google or check the firedtv forum of your country

If you made a new transponder list. check if you can find it with TV server.. if so, then again first delete the SQL TV database and do a rescan with the new transponder list

    I hope this helps
