For Single seat you can asign greater buffer because you only get i timeshifting everytime.
If singleseat you can set 1600mb for 1 tuner, but if you plan to use more then 1 client then you need setup as you described.

Using only one buffer is not going to work since TsWriter cannot delete the buffer that is used by TsReader. TsWriter needs to be able to delete the old buffer(s).

TvServer Configuration should not even _allow_ you to set the amount of min/max buffers to 1.
If it does, then there is a bug.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

i think maybe romuz meant 1600mb in total, not in one single file.

Another question I have is, is it better to have this setup as many smaller files, eg. 160x10mb, or fewer larger files, eg. 2x800mb?

Yes, i meant total buffer size.
Minimal setting for timeshift files count is 3 as i remember.
In my setup (i use 2gb ramdrive) i use 100Mb files for timeshifting
imho smaller is better because MP preallocates full file size when its being created

Actually the pre-allocation / space reservation is done by NTFS and the file size has no difference how much it will take. Reserving 1kb or 1Gb file will take as long.

Ok, then next vote for smaller size is for examle:
You have 2 cards and single seat and 2 gb Remdisk
if you use 2*800Mb and watch a tv on one card and then switch channel which exists on another card you need extra 800Mb( in that situation you get not enough disk space, if MP is late with deleting old timeshift buffers)
but if you use 16*100 Mb it will be ok(you need only 100 mb extra space)

You see the overhead in the timeshifting configuration screen.
The larger the file size the larger the overhead.

My file size is 20MB and I'm going fine with it

    Hi there,

For the people running W7x64, what ramdrive software are you running?

I am suffering from dropped frames and stuttering (on live TV) and want to see if a ramdrive might help???

    Thanks,

    J.
