Graphedit can be great fun and a usefull tool.

Be aware that the autorender of filters sometimes doesn't work and trial and error (witjh some logic behind the thinking ie ATI filters with ATI filters etc) can give great results.

    Right.

Can you tell me how to proceed now? I'm afraid I don't understand what the information means that I have harvested from graphedit. That is, I now know that there are seven pins - can I do something with that fact?

Do I have to find out what the pins do? If so, is there a good way of doing that?

I'm guessing that I have to change something in that .xml file ...

    Peace,

From the information given the graph construct in MP matches the pins from the filters and should work .

The devid monker is correct also .

What you can try is run the MP config and try to add a tuner, when it fails (don't close MP ) use the 'connect to remote graph' from graphedit and view the graph/s to seee what is happening.

    Aaaaaargh!

I thought we had it there - but no dice. When I try to connect to the graph, graphedit hangs and has to be terminated through Task Manager.

When I play a DVD in MP, it connects just fine.

BTW, I don't actually have to add a TV card in setup - it's already there, listed as "Sapphire Theater 550 Pro." (Friendly name: card1, Television=true, Recording=true.) However, I get the error message when I hit "Edit." Also, if I delete it, then hit "Add" I get the same message.

(In fact, I get it twice - after the first click on OK, it reappears. When I click it again I find myself in the "Edit properties" dialogue.)

    Rats.

Just out of curiosity have you had any other TV card working with MP with your system.

This would ensure you have the stream buffer engine instlalled and working, if it isn't then this can cause graph constructs to fail.

No, unfortunately I don't have another card. (Actually I have an ancient Hauppage SW card somewhere that I tried to get to work with MP about a year ago. Posted a few times but never even got close. It was nice with Dscaler, though ... )

IS there some other way of checking this?

I think I will setup another SageTV trial version to see what graphedit says about it.

Sigh ... starting to get a little desperate here ...

I'm currently using two ATI Theatre 550's in one MediaPortal system: one from saphire, and one from powercolor.

Currently running the most recent drivers (6.14.10.186) from here:
    https://support.ati.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=10116

Download and install the driver, the VC++ patch, and control panel, in that order -- then just add them in MP setup as you do any tuner. I did not need to muck around with graphedit.

In the sytem32 folder you should have sbe.dll, sdbeio.dll and wmvcore2.dll

I have seen a lot of XP instals missing these files

Hmm. I've got a full SP2 install, but it made sense to check - but no: all three files are there. there's even a wmvcore.dll (no"2").

Hi ho ... I'll try downloading all the ATI stuff again and rebooting a few times ... who knows ...
