I've only got one card, but have seen somthing similar with a recording. I was watching TV when it changed channel to record. It gave me the no signal and a black screen, but I noticed the hard drive was still chugging away, so I left it. The recording was perfect.

Also, I have noticed that when you get the no signal message with black screen with timeshifting on, you can sometimes leave it 30 seconds, shift back 15 seconds, and the picture comes back.

Looks like the tv card/timeshifting/recording stuff is working ok (most of the time). But the really weird thing is when you get a no signal, if you restart media portal straight away from the black screen, the card no longer works at all, until I start MyTheater and get a picture. I just get a repeat of about half a second of radio audio when it starts. Even a reboot won't fix it, only myTheatre. BTW, I've got a floppyDTV DVB-S, so the last bit probably only applies to this card.

I have to turn computer all the way off and wait for 10sec and then start.
Firewirecable is connected internally and therefor it needs to be turned off.
If firewire is connected on the back you can just disconnect for about 10sec,
connect again and it will regain signal.
Dont know if MyTheatre fixes this since I dont have it installed.

Thanks petteram, I do have the firewire connected externally, so will be much easier to just unplug it than start up MyTheatre.

Have you had the same experience with the No Signal error when timeshifiting is on? Next time you get it, check if the drive is chugging, if so leave for a while and try skipping back 15 seconds.

1. Card Name: DigitalNow Twin DVB-T (ie 2 x USB devices),
2. Card Type: Twinhan VP-7045 USB
3. Country: Australia - Melbourne
4. If you restart MP does the signal come back? Y
5. If you change channel does the signal come back? Sometimes
6. Do you require a reboot to be able to use TV? Y
7. Do you know of any tricks to re-enable TV without restarting / rebooting? - Return to mainmenu and reenter TV generally works

I have had signal loss issues, particularly with twin DVB-T devices in MP RC2, RC3 and RC4. I have also experienced hangs during recording.

I now have a super stable RC4 dual configuration with the following

XP Pro SP2
MS KB896626 (Directshow TV tuner and DVB) download
"DVBFIX" from the MCE rollup. This replaces mpeg2data.ax and PsisDecd.dll with version 6.05.2710.2732 of both files.

DVBFIX is refered to in the forums and is not available for download from MS unless you are running MCE2005. Please note I have not replaced the versions of these files in \WINDOWS directly. I have the new versions in my MediaPortal directory and register them using RegSvr32 (as per runme.bat supplied in DVBFIX download). As always ensure you have the latest BDA drivers for your DVB card.

Timeshift on or off does not make a difference. MP freezes and I have to reeboot.
It doesnt happen that often though...

Is anyone testing the two CVS versions?

I just tried the latest RC4 SVN and it's totally unuseable when it comes to MyTV :( No signal every hour or so and it's worse now, always have to reboot to get picture back on the scrambled channels.

The 31/3 is VERY stable but most other things is a bit too buggy, I guess I'll stick with MCE until the bug is fixed in MP.

I think the question was put to test the 31/1/2006 and 2/2/2006 to see if something was done between these two dates that caused the problem. I think many people still get the error with the 31/1/2006, so the question is now mute... :(

Im using mediaportal-svn-04-28-2006--01-03.rar and ive not had a problem in the past few days

I also installed MS KB896626 and DVBFIX like deancs suggested as i felt that it couldnt hurt.

Im not saying this will work for every one but it seems to work for me.

I've got all the hotfixes installed and using the svn from the 25th of april. I'll try the 28th in the morning and let you know. Though I must be honest and say that I tend to get this error in "batches", regardless of the build. It will be fine for a few days, then play up for no apparent reason. This is the worst kind of error to debug :(

    Strange things happens.....
This weekend I had a lot of "no signal", even more than usual.
I discovered it happened every time my daughter sent and recived text messages with her cellphone.
Did a test with my own cellphone and called a friend of mine, and yes, no signal appered right away. Sent some text messages and same thing happend.
It only lasted for a couple of seconds and the tv picture was back again.
Is there maybe a way to shield the HTPC case from disturbance from those signals?
