Wow rtv!, using the tvplugin.dll you attaches EPG is superfast So you're definitively onto something.


My setup btw is one of the latest RC2 SVN builds, using Mysql on a remote linux server.

Using MS-SQL RC3 latest SVN and this plugin gives about a 1000% improvement to the scrolling of the EPG (UK DVB-T about 70 channels and 7 days information with LOTS of schedules).

But the red recording dots are not showing in the EPG any more.

Installed last svn yesterday and it is still slow... What happened to the fix you were working on rtv? You were clearly onto something cause that fix you posted here made it fast again.

Sorry - I didn't intend to "fix" it. The dll was supposed to show who and what actually made the EPG slow.
Unfortunately the only acceptable solution for me would be to rewrite the TVGuide - this however can only be done after the release.

The problem of slow EPG navigation started occuring somewhere between RC2 and RC3. Does that mean that the TV Guide was rewritten between RC2 and RC3? Shurely some mistake?

interesting, posting from my MP machine doesn't work at the moment

anyway:
it seems that gentle.net doesn't handle mysql in a very nice way.
from the logs, it looks like that for each query gentle.net has a few statements overhead (selecting the db, changing the user, querying the variables, selecting the character set).

will post some logs when my MP machine is willing to.
