First up, thanks to everyone for a great release - RC3 is thus far proving extremely good, very stable and except for my following issue, bug free and very smooth!

Secondly, since I did a clean install of RC3 (on 2 clients, both exactly the same hardware), everytime I select TV from the home menu, then highlight the mini TV window and press ENTER to turn the TV on, the screen loses all graphics and sometimes formatting, leaving only a black background, text, and the mini TV screen playing live TV (see screenshot). Going back to the home menu, then back into the TV menu fixes the issue instantly, but it's not ideal. I also sometimes see a similar thing happen to the OSD when live TV is playing in full screen - the box outline and all other graphics disappear, leaving only the text. I can't recreate this issue though.

Wondering if it was a skin problem, I've tried 2 different skins and the same thing happens with both. I've also tried this with a 32" HD TV with HMDI connection and an old 26" TV with VGA connection, both with loads of different resolutions just to test it, same thing happens everytime.

I can recreate the problem every time and I've attached logs as this happened (excellent work on the log collection function by the way - very simple indeed!), as well as a screenshot of the TV menu. I didn't have this issue in RC1, and I never tested RC2. Plugins do not have an effect on this either - it happens with the most basic MP installation, and with loads of plugins loaded.

Has anyone else had the same issue? Any advice or suggestions gratefully accepted.

    Cheers
    Si

    Hi,

I cannot reproduce this issue, but hopefully someone will be able to help.

+1 not been able to reproduce... I will suggest a graphic card driver update, if possible.

Thanks for your time and responses. All drivers are up to date. This didn't happen previously in RC1 with the same hardware and drivers. Very odd indeed....

Just a few additional ideas: Real clean install (delete directories), or only clean up skin cache (should be done during update).

Can you at least give us some my system specs to work with, preferably fill them in usercp and enable, then we won't ask again :)

Also your logs do not actually have any MP logs in them only TV Server... Did you collect these using the debug tool? This issue is when using Blue3Wide skin yes?

Has it always been wrong since install? as above clearing the skin cache folder might solve this.

Again, thanks for your replies. And apologies - I previously filled out, but didn't enable, my system spec.

So, MediaPortal RC3 was installed onto a totally fresh Window 7 OS with only windows updates and necessary codecs, so a very clean install was done.

Clearing the skin cache makes no difference with either Blue3 or Blue3 Wide or Fidelity.

Yes, the logs were collected using the new debug tool. Let me know if I can provide any more info.

However, I've just tried changing from VMR9 to EVR and the issue does not occur. Unfortunately I can't use EVR as I cannot get the correct fps rates for TV streams - only about 40, not 50 FPS, so it's no good for my setup, but using VMR9 I get this problem every time. Any thoughts on that?

You need Aero skin enabled with EVR for things to work correctly, I use either MPC-HC codec or the MS one for HD, both use dxva, think CoreAVC over rated.
