If those above reporting the same problem are using VMR9 as video renderer on Vista/Win7 then solution is to use EVR.

VMR9 is not supported on those OS

If you are using EVR please start a new thread

I'm using EVR, so I will start a new thread later today if my test can reproduce this problem.

Why use the MPC mpeg2 codec, the M$ one is much better and definitely gives me 50fps (shift+! in MP) with EVR

I think the best solution is to use microsoft codecs for TV and MPC-HC for videos. MPC-HC is more tolerant with onlinevideos H264 streaming and ripped MKV's.

    PD,

Whilst using EVR, the MS codec won't work with resolution of 1080p - tons of dropped frames and a slow FPS. I've also tried on 720p and it's close, but not quite close enough - again too many dropped frames make it stutter now and then. 2 screenshots attached (using F11 - thanks for that tip Jameson_uk!), along with logs for both resolutions, in case you felt the urge to take a look at what's occurring.

Does anyone else out there have an ION gpu working with 1080p @ 50fps? If so what codecs are you using?

    Many thanks
    Si

For me using EVR is also a problem with codecs with 1080i - stuttering. Codecs tried various - MS, Cyberlink, MPC, ffdshow. On SD - everythibng is ok. WHen turned to VMR9 - there is no stuttering at all. But have this weird menu on TV switch also. Do not remember is this the same with EVR. Will try at home.

Arturas, we have what sounds like exactly the same problem, and a few other posters have seen something similar too. What hardware/software are you using, so we can make a better comparison?

I suspect NVidia 8400 ION is not sufficient for fullhd video, expecially for interlaced one... But should be enough for 720p.

Maybe you can try a different driver version.

    Oh yes it is :)

Might be a format problem, which does not utilise dxva though, suggest re-encoding the problem video with either handbrake or xvid4psp (set output to x21 ultra) and see if there is a difference, would not use the ION mobo for this ;)

8200/8300 (old IGP for AMD boards) is not up to much but 9400 IGP which is used on ION setups is pretty good (using a uATX 9400 for my HTPC and it is great :))
