Really bad jitter (1 Viewer)

Ok, a bit of a break through.

Paranoid D - I like filmerit, might have to learn more about it. I didn't have any MPV/Gabest filters on board at all. However, it showed errors on the DVICO Unified AV filters. Even after uninstalling as prescribed on the Fusion FAQ webpage, filmerit showed these to be still in residence. I deleted them off using filmerit. Re-installed them all again - no change to situation.
Got rid of Fusion 3.63 drivers again, removed again with filmerit.
Loaded up Fusion 3.41 drivers (these are BDA rather than Unified AV).
Re-installed Soundmax drivers (managed to mess these up in the process, filmerit wanted to do something and I hit the wrong button)
Fired up TV server config and re-mapped etc.
Jitter now 2. VMR9 steady between 49.45 and 50.18. No frames dropping.

So, left on soak test now for rest of day. Got to sleep anyway, just finished 12 hour night shift and should have gone to sleep 3 hours ago.

Thanks for everyones suggestions, got me going the right direction.

Just need to work out why 3.63 stopped working correctly - it was!

Here are my log files. I did a simple MP, MyTV and displayed jittery ATSC 1080i using the NVidia PureVideo and AC3Filter.

Can any of your EXPERTS look at these and say why?

Do NOT use Cool'N'Quiet -- slows framerates

Guys... I may have found MY solution: AMD's Cool 'N' Quiet

I couldn't understand why some codecs gave clean performance and others didn't. Using the <Shift><1> to show the frame-rates, etc, I was able to SEE that it was more a matter of 18~20 fps instead of 'dropped' frames... It seems the more CPU intense codecs were causing the CNQ to keep the CPU at higher duty cycles and higher frequency -- hence, they appeared to be stable.

I was using the AMD Power Monitor to easily switch between Power Saver modes, which engage the CNQ function. Doing so I can easily see fps go from 59~60 to 18~20... interestlingly enough the CNQ "works by monitoring the computer usage (this is done 30 times per second), reducing the CPU clock if your PC is not needing high performance."

I'll be testing this a bit more in the upcoming weeks... but ALL MY CODECS are working just fine now -- NVidia PureVideo, PDVD7, etc... with CNQ DISengaged.

Have known the dual core optimizer to do something similar in solving XP frame problems (this is now included in Vista amd driver, so not required).

Andrew, is disabling Cool 'N' Quiet in the BIOS enough? I had a similar problem playing back SD content on my M2A-VM HDMI using GB-PVR (just saw this thread, otherwise I would have suggested it). Disabling Cool 'N' Quiet helped but I still get a stutter once every couple of minutes. I now switched to MP to see if the problems go away but of course I ran into other problems that are preventing me from testing it at this point.

I'm wondering if I have to do anything else to ensure that C 'N' Q does not kick in. I did leave the Asus Q-Fan enabled in the BIOS (quieter PC now).

Since I'm still testing some things I'm simply allowing it to remain AUTO in BIOS and select Office instead of Minimal Power in the CP/Power options. That disengages CNQ. I'm wondering if there's a way to have CNQ disengaged only when MP is the active window... I'd like to save the power/heat when I don't NEED the performance. I'm also evaluating how my GBe NIC performance is effected by CNQ. Initially I think it's slowed about 50%; but I'm still evaluating this. (Ultimately I'm building a FreeNAS with some old hardware and would like to have decent GBe transfer rates -- losing 50% to CNQ could be influencing my evaluation!)

I have no issues with CnQ ATM. I have installed the AMD hotfix-thingy, though...
Only thing is that it seems that corespeed takes sometimes don't "spin down".

I'm going to give RMClock a try when I find the time... I find this utility very flexible and stable.

The problem with extra's like this, is there any noticeable gain.

Looks pretty in the systray though.

Andrew, I am having a problem with My TV freezing. I narrowed it down to channel changing if VMR9 exclusive mode is enabled. As soon as I try to change channels it freezes. Others on the board have this problem as well. The problem is, if I disable VMR9 exclusive mode the video is pretty choppy.

Seems like an endless journey...
