Recorded TV playback stuttering (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I am also having the same issue with recordings.
I am using Media Portal 1.12.0.

Live TV is perfect, but recordings stutter.

I tried changing the extensions from .ts to .mp4, and they play perfectly in VLC (won't play in MP then)
That rules out issues with the network/signal strength/HDD speed.

I'm a MediaPortal noob, moving from MS-MCE, so I can only guess the issue is codecs?

I am running Windows 8.1, using a PCTV nanostick - 290e, which all works flawlessly under MS-MCE.
I'm hoping to upgrade to Windows 10, and to use Media Portal.

Recording are made to the E: drive, which is a 1TB HDD inside the machine, i.e. not USB device. C: drive is a SSD with the OS on it.

Is it the codecs? And if so how do I change them?

Thanks,
Steve.

I'd like to see some log files please (see http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/16_Support/3_Forums/2_Log_Files for how to create them) - you shouldn't be having problems with recorded TV if live TV is OK...

What are your system specs ?

Do you have Anti-virus/security software running ? If so, are the recorded TV folders excluded ?

Quite possibly, but it's impossible to be sure without log files.
    Logs attached.

    @Stephen O'Kane
have you tried to disable antivirus software, ot add timeshift and recordings folders to their exclusion list?

Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center
    Intel i5-3570K, 3.4GHz
    16GB Ram.
I am running AV software, so I will add Recorded TV to the exclusion list, and see if that makes a difference.
But I am using the same folder for recordings as I did for Media Centre, so I can't see that being the issue.

I'll run more tests, to see if I can eliminate things.

The TsReader (client playback) and TsWriter (TV server recording) logs are full of 'Continuity error' messages, so something in the system is causing real problems for both recording and playback.

Have you disabled the MS Media Center services (just in case) ?

I did as suggested, and disabled the AV for the recordings directory, and that improved things a lot.
Then I changed the Video and Audio codecs, from the MS ones, to LAV, and it is now looking good.

I think it might be all sorted now.

Thanks for the hints and tips.

I may have spoke too soon - the stuttering is back.

Live TV is perfect, it is only recordings, but it does not always occur - TimeShift and Recordings all go to the same drive location.

I have added exceptions to the media-portal applications in my AV. I'll keep testing, and see if that solves it.
If it persists I will try to isolate it, and try to get good logs.

I might have to Switch back to MS-Media Center. :-(

If you skip back 30 seconds and view the same section of the recording again, does the stuttering occur in the same place?
Alternatively, if you view the recording in other players (VLC, WMC etc.), does the stuttering occur in all the same places regardless of the player used?
If no, it means that the problem is related to playback - most likely codec configuration.
If yes, it means that there is corruption "baked into" the recording. At the time of the recording, the signal strength/quality may have been low or the HDD may have been overloaded.
