I already love the new placement of the Icons (were on top, now to the left of the Home Menu selections). I love the fact that even though in the US, the time format is different it looks "normal" now to me (says Friday November 24 instead of Friday 24 November).

I like where the Home menu icons are now. Much smaller and on the top left hand side. (someday I won't use these anymore =) )

In looking at the TV Guide, I like the wider layout now. One thing that I was wondering is, can the Weather Overlay not be show in this view?

Instead of having the description of the show at the bottom, could it go where the weather overlay is and have it so the channel listings have a few more lines? If not is there another way of getting more TV guide data visibile. Right now I see 6 lines, more would be nice:



If not, I can get used to less channel listings. It just means more remote button presses
Also, the dialog boxes that are used throughout the skin seem too large and overwhelming:



In this particular example I use the zap2it plugin and this is a dialog box that comes up after the EPG data has been imported.

On to more testing! I love the changes and enhancements so far!

AWESOME, Will def be my default when its complete & 4:3. (sad to see pm3 go but move over bitch)

Couple of issues
- Cant get to my plugins (maybe just been daft!)
- TV window shows over top of tv guide
- HAMMERS my pc! 90% load, (have a large databases though 20,000 songs, 400 movies), but does not do it with PM3??

I've just realize that you uploaded new version at Saturday.

"Great, you've covered most of my suggestions"

But... Yes I know you like suggestions, maybe more than bugs, but now I found bug. Look screenshot, it's about teletext. In screen calibratin controls still don't move together with graphics.
Transparency (like Borat says) look very nice
It's late now (relative) I'll test skin tomorrow.

Thanks Psycho, excellent work. Well done!!!

Just got 0.3.6 installed. Personally I prefered the EPG better with the programme info on the right rather than at the bottom.

I found it a bit odd at first, probably because it was different to anything I'd seen before, but after a bit of thought it makes perfect sense for a widescreen skin to make use of the width available.

With the old layout:
- We got more channels displayed at a time.
- The narrow column of text was easier to read than a wide column. (The narrower the column the easier it is for the eye to return to the begining of the next line)

With the new layout:
- We get less channel shown
- If the programme info goes over 2 or more lines it is much more dificult to read.

Just my thoughts......

I also feel that the new layout is akward. I know I suggested the change, but it seems off still. I figured that the weather overlay doesn't need to be seen in the TV Guide section and mabye some information can be displayed here instead.

Also the font seems really big for the TV Channels that are seen in the TV Guide. Maybe if the font was decreased some then more Guide data could be shown?

My favorite skin still. Can't wait for more enhancements and SVN support

I agree. Thinking about it both the old and new TV guides aren't quite consistant with the quality of the layout on the rest of the screens. By that I mean the way My Music, My Videos and My Pictures work. They have a consistent layout which follows a kind of windows explorer/web site style with quite tightly defined areas for info.

In broad terms...
Header
Left Nav | Main list area
Footer

In the header section on the Music, Vids and Photos sections the layout is along the lines of...
header - info on the selecteds items (+icon)
Left Nav | Main list area - has lists of items
footer - consistant footer which goes across the whole skin.

I think if the TV section followed the same general layout it would work well and be consistant with the other areas of the interface.

e.g.
TV Guide
header - Selected Item info + icon
Full width panel - Filled top to bottom, left to right with tv guide
Footer, same as all the others.

Schduled Recordings
header - Selected Item info + icon
left nav | main panel which has just list items in it
footer

Recorded TV
header - selected item info + icon
left nav | main panel filled with listings
footer

etc, etc

I agree again, if the font was slightly smaller you would get more channels in the guide making it easier to pick from a wider selection of channels. If the guide fills the whole middle panel you will also get a nice wide guide so that more of the programme titles show in full as well.

TV doesn't minimize during guide

I installed v. 1.3.6 but when I go to the tv guide, the tv picture remains in it's original location. If I'm at the screen where you choose TVGuide, Record now etc. & select TVGuide, the small tv picture stays in the middle of the guide. If I'm viewing the channel & hit the guide button, the large picture remains & hides the complete guide. If I knew how to grab a screen shot, I'd post it.
Another thing, the white lettering of the channels is unreadable. Is there a way to change it to black?

Hi there, Ive started to create a 4:3 version based on replicant i hope you dont mind. Its starting as replicant but when ive finnished it will be unrecognisable. meant to look more realistic than replicant, not meant in a bad way i mean im trying to get away from the cartoony style that all of the skins have and to make it look more like stereo equipment.
Seen as im using a lot of your code i thought it only right to let you know if and where ive found or fixed bugs, should be able to help each other out there.
The problem with tv showing over the tv guide is to do with the weather overlay, ive disabled it on mine and its solved the problem.
Im trying to make it very graphically rich, and ill be using the new animation actions, if theres anything i can help you with please let me know

A bit of news...

Hello everone, I've beeen away on work for a while. Today I'm going on holiday for three weeks, so unfortunately there won't be any updates until I get back .

natrlhy and shagster, I like your suggestions so when I get back there will be changes, more enhancements and SVN support .
Feel free to have a bash at changing the xmls yourselves, just post your changes so everyone can get them.

@ m.standish, I have no problems with anybody using any part of Replicant for a new skin or mod, isn't that what open source is all about .
