I think I will have a play with some of the XML's. I haven't done any MP skinning before but think I will have a go.......

If I do manage to successfully make any updates I'll post for the group to try out, etc.

I'm off to read the SkinArchitecture docs.....

WOW!

Are you only going to make the 16:9 skin or the 4:3 skin too?
Because otherwise i just have to buy myself a new lcd tv......

I'm gonna have a play with the 16:9 skin looking to try and do the bits I mentioned earlier in the thread with the TV section.

I wouldn't hold your breath though, I haven't skinned MP before so I'm on a learning curve......

Hopefully I will be able to take it a bit further whilst Psycho is holidaying, but I'm sure I'll make a few blunders, might even do more damage than good!!

Only time will tell......but I really like the skin and don't think I can wait till the new year!!!

Well, I spent a few hours messing around with XML and trying to get my head around how skinning works.

Attached is a zip with tvhome.xml and tvguide.xml. They are by no means done but ready for discussion before I try and do any more!!!

I haven't done the scroll bars on the tvguide so that will need some adjustment.

I have ended up turning overlays off on both screens, had trouble with them.......

now playing suggestion

this skin would be perfect if I would be able to click on the now playing next to the weather and it would bring me to the full now playing screen, sort of like when you click the small video box and it brings you to the full screen video, unless theres a hot key for it. Now if I'm not in the full now playing screen it takes several clicks to even get to it. I hope i explained this ok

Good "holidays" Psycho Reptile

Well, now I have some time to publish my review of last release 0.3.6 of Replicant.

First of all, than to Psycho for his patient with us.

A) I continue thinking that font sizes should not have been changed from v 0.3.4. As we can observe in first three attached files, text was perfectly legible on TV screens. Actual version (third image from here) have text lines too near each other (yellow circles) or too much separate (yellow circle between lines of "description" of the TV program).

B) TV logos could be greater than this (mangenta square). Moreover, TV names/logo background color was more clear with black text and greyed background on 0.3.4 release (image 1) than actual bluish background (image 2 & 3). Compare by yourself text legibility in images 1 and 3.

C) Some Spanish characters and even other characters (like apostrophe) appear like question marks or even some other characters (red circles).

D) Teletext is near perfection ... but small Teletext has not correct aspect ratio and fullscreen teletext text is cropped (see images).
