SAA7130 analog card doesnt work with MP (1 Viewer)

I'm unable to find any channels when scanning and from the logs I can see that the filters for audio and video cannot be found. Also, when TV Server is building the graph for the card, every pin says Connected:false. I am not sure if that is part of the problem.

I am using an SAA7130 analog tuner card based on a Philips chip (7130).

How can I point MediaPortal to use the correct filters for this card? I've installed the software that came with the card and it is working in WinDVR, PowerDVD and some other obscure application (honestTech TVR) that was included in the package.

I believe the issue is the card is software based, i.e. no hardware encoding, and MP is unable to find the encoders and demuxes it needs.

I don't think the wiki page about SW based cards helped really. So, anyone with input on this please help.

I don't have logs at hand now, but can of course post if neccessary.

713x from Philips Semiconductors seems to be a pretty common chip on analog cards. Anyone using these with success?

Finally I guess it is a bug in MP 1.0.2 that TV Server crashes on the second analog channel scan? (Restarting the service helps).

Please refrain from posting questions why I cannot use a DVB card, etc. It doesn't really help.

We need all logs from TvServer including the Configuration file of the analog card in order to help you, as there are too many possibilities why your card isn't working within TvServer. It can be the missing Software encoder as TvServer only supports a specific list of encoders. Another possibility could be that your card is too special for TvServer so that the card isn't supported, but this has nothing to do with the fact that it is a software encoding card.

Logs attached, let me know how to extract the configuration file for the TV card and I will attach it as well. Card is working in other Windows applications including Intervideo WinDVR3 so codecs are available on the system.

TV server recognizes card but lists two (one analog and one Unknown). Perhaps because there are two devices in Windows Device Manager, one for Tuner and one for Capture.

Thanks in advance, it is appreciated.

There was a bug in the graph building algorithm. According to your log, you are affected by this bug. You should upgrade to the latest RC and test again. When reporting, please include again all logs. The configuration file can be found in the same folder as the log folder. There is another folder called "AnalogCard".

That sounds promising. So there is a bug that makes TV Server unable to find the correct TV Audio filter when tuning for analog channels?

I'll upgrade to RC5 or maybe even wait for 1.1 and give it a try.

Is it possible to have two Media Portal installations on the same system in parallell so I don't have to throw everything away or can i upgrade 1.0.2 to RC5? I guess I have to read up on some docs.

    Thanks again for all help.

No upgrade option from 1.0.2 I'm afraid, must be a clean install.

If you install RC6, you can then upgrade to 1.1 final.

I have installed 1.1.0 RC6 and had some progress. Now I'm able to scan for and find the channels I'm looking for with the analog card. However, it is a black screen in MP and error no audio or video found (or similar, the language changed to Swedish so thats my translation).

Logs attached, a familiar message appear in one of them.

It is appreciated if you can take a look.

    Best regards,

According to the log your card has a hardware encoder and everything looks ok, except that TvServer can't find the audio and video in the stream. I have only one suggestion that could help to get the card working. You try to play with the settings like video resolution, video format in the card section.

If this doesn't help than I have no more suggestion how you could get the card working. :sorry:

OK, thank you! I'll give it a try. It is appreciated that you tried to help out, things are working a lot better now so I will do my best to try and fix the rest of it. :D

Sorry for knowing so little about MediaPortal, but more specifically where can I find the settings you refer to? In TV server configuration somewhere or in MediaPortal configuration?

    Thanks again.

From memory, I was quite certain that the 7130 was a software encoding card. After searching a bit, I am even more convinced that this is the fact, but I could not find a very decisive proof - best I found: ZOGIS
