I thought the latest builds of PDVD8 & 9 didn't allow you to select the codec in MP Configuration?

if you got the .ax files registered there no problem.

just installed, u say in the installer "free powerdvd", what version is that, where can i download it. i mean real free,right? legal stuff.

Limitations: 30 day working trial. (for applicaton, not codec). yes legal i guess. havn't read the instal "notes".

right, so althought the application will stop working, you can keep the needed .ax file and will continue working.

No just regsvr32 them. That more or less what saf is doing.

And it won't be working. Just register Cyberlink h.264 decoder is not enough. I am afraid you really need to instal PDVD if you want to use this decoder.
BTW in latest PDVD they block h.264 completly to use it in other applications.

Lets hope MP team fix ts reader issues and make h.264 TV working with MPC-HC (SAF) decoder as soon as possible.

Yeah i had a feeling it was not possible without installing PDVD.
I would love to use SAF if you could get it going with h264 TV
what if i give you sample .ts recordings from h264 tv (720p & 1080i)
could you have an option to have SAF installed with h264 PDVD8 codec

That would be fantastic!
The last time I compared MPC h264 codec to PDVD h264 codec (about a year ago) my opinion was that PDVD gave me better picture quality.
What are your (=everybody who want to give his view) current opinions on that?

By the way, is there really no way to use the latest pdvd codecs in other applications? That would be terrible!

Simply trick to make *.TS files working with SAF is to rename them to *.MKV

i find MPC h264 codec works for a greater range of mkv files but it doesn't like HDTV.
If i set PDVD for my first choice for h264 some movies get black screen
so i find both codecs have different uses on my system
No point in comparing the quality, since the PDVD codec wont play some movies it automatically looses.

You can share some test recodrdings, but i doubt it will be working.
