Honestly, there are no support in SAF for beta OS. Win7 have its own audio/video DMO decoder, so it is possible this decoder oweride MPC-HC decoders.
Check graphstudio if MPC-HC decoder is really in use.
I can disable DMO decoders in Win7 by SAF, but i need more info...
actually that is not a problem, i already managed to overide DMO. My real problems was color space and most of all lagging. In win7, when decoding with DXVA i always had frequent lagging.
One ffdshow dev made a program to disable DMO. May be you can use that in saf
Tool for changing preferred DirectShow filters in Windows 7 - Doom9's Forum

There is ati registry settings hack that makes the colour space standard between SD and HD. (use google)
I look for it, thanks for the hint.

By black level s you mean luma range? Graphstudio works here but cant connect to a MP opened graph in Win7
What do you mean it works on your config? Do you use DXVA?
I would like to know your settings, like evr or vrm9 ...

Thanks

Im on win 7 - 64bit and i cannot connect to remote graphs. no matter if i use Graphstudio 32bit or Graphstudio 64bit version.
Saf is working for me 95%, the only issue i have is i have to install ac3filter and in preprocessing under Video in MP add ac3filter, and i can play DTS sound whiteout stuffering.. :)

Should srt and sub subtitles be working with this setup, 'cos they're not for me. They work OK in MPC-HC using DirectVobSub, but I'd much rather be able to stick with MP.

EDIT: My bad, I didn't have subtitles enabled under MP Config - Video. It's working now.

can you please highlight in the first post that this filters-pack does not allow to playback live HDTV (ok, it is already mentioned in the problems section of the post, but who reads this before installing :) ...as it seems this issue won't be fixed with 1.1 so i think the users should be made aware of this issue before they install saf! :)

    thx

    Not true, beta support HDTV.
    Instructions send as PM.

Hi Hoborg, can you please PM the instructions to me?

SitheSly: What problems are you having with black levels in Win 7? I am having a lot of black level problems myself, but under XP. Because of that I am considering going for Win 7 instead, that's why I am a bit concerned to hear this. Btw, it is the "pixel format" setting in ATI CCC that doesn't have any effect for me, I'm stuck on outputting pc levels which causes a lot of banding in video material.

Are you sure you are using VMR9 under XP?

Positive, I have checked it with graphstudio. I know that the pixel format setting is my problem, because I can't tell the slightest difference between the different modes. The difference between them should be visible at the desktop as well. I can manually lock my TV to a specific color space and the TV is defaulting to PC levels when set to auto.

    Hi guys,

When i first came to MP i followed a guide on AVfourms and the htpc project. This set up used the KMPlayer as an external player. (I really liked this set up).

But when upgrading to either the RC3 or 1.0.1 using an external player caused problems, every time i closed the KMPlayer, MP had a fit about unable to play files and i decided it was easier to use the internal player. I have never seen black since that point. But looking around the forums it appears to be fairly common

Sometime ago i found a install guide on AVS fourm and used that on Vista (both 32 & 64 bit) which worked as well as anything else so when i installed win7 RC i used that again.

But now i'm fed up of watching grey blacks, i keep coming back to this thread as seems the most purely MP focused codec setup, plus Hoborg has the patiences of a saint :)

I've just brought a cheap phenom cpu off ebay (hopefully it will work) to speed up the process of converting all my hd dvd / bluray's to H264 MKV's and plan to spend sometime fixing everything. So its time to remove all codecs and install SAF.

I was hoping some one would have a work round for graphstudio, as it saves hours. Going back to Vista is never going to happen as win7 is everything an OS should be. (off topic, how many people are interested in the new google OS, when its ready?)
