I didnt think so. PDVD9 (and latest version of PDVD8) have disabled h.264 decoder for external aplications. There is no way how to use it any longer in MP. So if you install latest PDVD, you will be able to wath BlueRays but no h.264 tv.

You misunderstand my suggestion. The problem is old PDVD doesn't do bluray and new PDVD doesn't do 3rd party H264

Install old PDVD8 build for H264 codec
Install latest version of PDVD9 for bluray player
Both versions can co-exist according to some users on this forum

I am afraid PDVD9 overwrites installed PDVD8 h.264 and MPEG2 decoders... Not files, but registry entries.

That's good for others too know, strange that users have reported that they do have dual installations of PDVD for the above reason. I am sure they stated v8+9 but it's possible they were referring to 7+9 or 7+8. Maybe you have to reregister the h264 codec after the pdvd9 install. I dunno, i'm just re-iterating what others have stated, as I don't need bluray/hdvd player

After First start VMR was not started, after reload of SAF VMR is working now. Next time I will do the usual fixing process (reload, restart,reload,restart,reload,......) before posting.

I've followed the instructions on the first page regarding installation of the SAF pack.

However, I've been using PowerDVD v7.3 for watching Blu-Ray and HD discs.

From what I gather both v7.3 and v9 codecs can't co-exist - is that correct. Do I need to uninstall v7.3 (will obviously need something to watch these with though)?

Any ideas?

Hi,

I have some issues with the sound on Discovery Channel using the MPA decoder, that is, I get no sound. However, there is no problem with the sound on other channels (e.g SVT1/2, TV3, TV4 on Swedish Boxer (DVB-T)).

I have tried with the Nvidia Audio decoder and AC3 filter and the sound is ok on Discovery, the conclusion is that somehow MPA decoder is not fully compatible with Discovery Channel.

Any ideas how to get Discovery working with MPA as well? Can I provide some logs or perhaps a sample recording?

I'm still on MP 1.0 and using SAF 3.30.

Looking at AC3Filter, Discovery is using MPEG Audio 1/0 (mono) 48000Hz and the other channels are using MPEG Audio 2/0 (stereo) 48000Hz

Hey just wondering if any one else has never had Audio working with the H.264 streams... You know the Youtube's and TEDTalks... Video plays back just fine, just no Audio.. Always had this problem as long as I can remember.

Has there been any change in the situation with DXVA MKV's? Hoborg I notice you're still suggesting people use Xvid4PSP to re-encode non-DXVA compliant MKV's.. until there's a bulk method with no loss of quality, is it possible to have Mediaportal determine whether it's DXVA compliant and turn DXVA off if necessary? Rather than trying to play it, failing.. closing Mediaportal.. changing the registry entry, and opening it again and playing it..

@callsignapol - my experience with MP + mpcvideodec.ax (ie SAF) is if the mkv is dxva compliant it plays, if it is not dxva compliant it still plays, you just end up with high cpu useage.

Thanks. I'm running MP 1.02 with SAF 3.47. If I have DXVA on, and try to play a MKV that does not support DXVA, MP just hangs..
