Why do I always manage to mess up somthing when it's working?

That's easy - you wouldn't be here if you just wanted a 'safe' system.
Install it, configure it, sit back for a couple of days to admire your handiwork ~ then tweak it 'till it breaks!

The receiver can decode Dolby True HD and DTS HD via HDMI - is there anything else I need to enable to pass through all audio formats to the receiver? What about sampling rates etc?

192 kHz/24-bit DAC
DTS-HD Decoder, Dolby TrueHD Decoder
Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-ES/ DTS 96/24, and WMA 9 Pro Decoders
SACD Playback via HDMI (Multi)

I'm hopefully going to set them up tonight, looking forward to in sync audio!

It should be working just fine, simply enable passthrough durning SAF install.

All I know is that you will need a compatible sound card/onboard sound/video card that can do the new HD formats. A regular onboard sound chip can not passthrough HD Audio.

Yes, that is true. For now, SAF (FFDShow) support passthrough only AC3/DTS, but new HD audio format should be added soon - there are some LPCM problems to be fixed first.

I am afraid you will need ATI 5xxx (or Xonar sound card) to bitstream HD audio...

Next SAF should have TrueHD passthrough integrated - just waiting for new FFDShow build...

Lets hope AMD will create new MoBo chipset with ATI 5xxx iGPU soon

Damn HDMI audio is an expensive learning curve Hmm I'm only getting stereo via HDMI on my 3200HD right now, is that correct? The damn thing should at least be able to do DD/DTS :|

EDIT: Nvm, the Catalyst drivers will only allow 2 channel, but the Realtek HDMI driver will allow DD5.1 and DTS via passthrough BUT it won't show up in Windows as supported.

As long as I've got HTPC 5.1 it will get me through until (as you said Hoborg), a board with an integrated 5xxx series GPU (then I might get an AM3 cpu while I'm at it ).

I have no sound. I switch to ffdshow audio, disabled dxva still no sound. Any suggestions?
Also, I cannot get MP to minimize so I can run the util to display which codec drivers are being used:orry, your dealing with a neub.

Do not enable passthrough durning SAF instal if you enable it...

Now all of a sudden I get error msg. reinstalled unlocked saf, played one file (was working) rebooted HTPC and now I get error msg whatever I play...
