as for volume control: I have had it working before, maybe it is a ffdshow thing... I'll get into it myself.

You have to use the remote for your receiver. Unless you HTPC remote can control it that is.

Hoborg: Everytime I install SAF, I have to manually change the settings for DVobSub (I don't like yellow subs + the "Eastern Europe" setting does not work with my Swedish "å" characters"). Is there a way around this?

Why you are install DirectVobSub? MP have already MPC subtitle engine...

I have been able to control the volume coming from my speakers from within MP. But now this seems impossible, SPDIF is grayed out in Volume Control. Ah well, too bad.
That app called VolumeTracker didn't work either. I used that before.

That is bad, that meand DTS is decoded and instead of passthrough it is re-encoded in to AC3 and then passthrough. Anbody else can confirm it?
If yes, please report to FFDshow forum.

Ouch, that sound bad. What cons does this setting bring me? Am I missing out on anything with this disabled?

EDIT: I got it working Volume Control over SPDIF. The downside is that it only works for MP3 and WMA, but it's something... Just download this app: http://www.chrisnet.net/apps/VolumeTracker.zip
Does it mean anything that it only supports MP3/WMA. Can you think of what's causing it to fail on DD/DTS by knowing that?

I'm using MediaPortal 1.0.2 still. Then I have to use DirectVobSub (as installed by SAF) or have I missed some magic inclusion of MPC subtitle engine into 1.0.2, right? I will happily use MPC instead.

I tested V3. It does work as installed nicely. But as noted already, dts is converted to ac3. If re-encode ac3/spdif is disabled then dts is passed through again.
only downside when playing the sample files I created:

[The Dark Knight.wmv]
Video: VC1 Video () 1920x1088 23.98fps [Video]
Audio: Windows Media Audio 48000Hz 6ch 768Kbps >>>> 2ch pcm 48khz (no sound)

but with re-encode enabled it plays fine (as ac3 type). So ill stick to that one.

Bit confused about something. Ive just installed SAF v4.00 beta23 *LOCKED* after using the RC1 for ages. Everything seems to have worked fine except the CLVsd.ax PowerDVD Video codec. My log says this...

On root ("C:"): version: 8.4.0.330

Power DVD: Not found

But after the install and a reboot, my MP configuration does not have the codec available as a MPEG-2 Video Decoder. It was there fine for RC1.

Not sure if this is something simple of if i have done something wrong, but would love someone to tell me what ive missed?

You need to unlock SAF.

@people having problems to get AC3 passthrough/decoding on TrueHD streams and DTS passthrough/decoding on DTS-HD streams

This is fixed (I think) in revision 3197

Could you update SAF with that revision please?
