Re: SAF v4.00beta (StandAlone Filters) - DXVA ready (MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1).
Thanks for the PM hoborg, it's working now, even with dual-screen which wasn't working with LiveTV and previous version of SAF v4, and without having to uninstall NERO
The only config that appears now under Codecs and Renderers is Monogram AAC Decoder. Is that correct?
I've done some testing with various files on my 2600XT and P4 2.8Ghz. The details of each file were obtained from MediaInfo. The number after the = is the height * width * number of frames, as I read that around 9m was the max that could be played, so I was interested to see if this was true.
300 1080p noaudio.mkv (AVC) (10.6Mbps, 1920*800, High@L4.1, 5 Ref Frames = 7680000) - under 10% CPU
I am Legend.mp4 (AVC, AAC) (7979Kbps, 1920*816, High@L4.1, 3 Ref Frames = 4700160) - around 20% CPU
The following 3 clips are too short to properly observe the CPU usage, but it looks like it's about 10-20% and I tested them in MPC-HC and they all played with DXVA - H264 :
AAC 6CH 48000hz - Fast & Furious 4 2009.mkv (AVC, AAC) (1280*544, Main@L4.1, 3 Ref Frames)
AC3 6CH 48000hz - Deja Vu 2006.mkv (AVC, AC-3) (1280x528, Main@L5.1, 8 Ref Frames)
DTS 6CH 48000hz - Jumper 2007.mkv (AVC, DTS) (1280*544, High@L5.1, 5 Ref Frames)
WMV (WMV3) 720P - 80% CPU, OK
WMV (WMV3) 1080P - 90% CPU, OK
*I can't seem to get WMVs to play accelerated. In MPC-HC and WMP11 even 720Ps are unwatchably jerky, whether DXVA (in WMP11) is enabled or not. They play OK in MP, but I'd like to get the CPU usage down.
SD LiveTV/MPEG2 - 25-30% CPU, these don't appear to be accelerated.
AVIs - 15% CPU, strange to see SD AVIs using as much CPU as HD AVCs, but perhaps that's normal.
Quantam of Solace.mp4 (mp4 h264, single AAC) (4337Kbps, 1920*1056, High@L5.0, 9 Ref Frames = 18247680) - Played fine in MPC-HC with only about 20% CPU, which seems to disprove the 9m limit theory. Currently causing my display to go off and my PC to stop responding, but I think it's just a power issue!
The following aren't working in MP:
WMA 6CH 48Khz - The Dark Knight 2008.wmv (VC-1 (Microsoft), WMA3) (1920*1080, AP@L3) - High CPU, very jerky (Works fine in MPC-HC, 40% CPU, DXVA: VC-1 bitstream decode)
POTC - Dead Man's Chest.mp4 (AVC, dual AAC) (7810Kbps, 1920*796, High@L5.1, CABAC / 6 Ref Frames = 9169920) - won't play in MP or MPC-HC (no error, just no audio or video and timeline doesn't move)
Planet Earth.mkv (AVC, AC-3, ASS) (18.5Mbps, 1920*1080, High@L5.1, CABAC / 16 Ref Frames = 33177600) - only uses about 20% CPU but video spasming all over the place, audio is fine. (same in MPC-HC)
I've posted screenshots from DXVA checker, which might make more sense to you and explain why MPEG-2 or WMV (WMV3) doesn't seem to be accelerated. I've tried ticking DXVA_MPEG2 and DXVA_MPEG2SD as well but that didn't make any difference:
1) you should uninstall NERO, it can cause lot of problems
2) from your LOG: SAF v4.00 beta23 *LOCKED* - you need to *unlock* SAF, check PM.
