How to install:
Close all video files (MediaPlayer, MPC-HC,...)
Replace original dll in ''Windows\system32'' and '''
If system tells you that quartz.dll is in use and cannot be overvriten, restart and try it again.
You can try safe mode too.
I just checked the Driver Cache folder and I just have i386 folder with driver.cab, sp1.cab, sp2.cab, sp3.cab, four nt...exe files and bthport.sys.

Oh, realy sorry, it isnt Windows\Driver Cache but ''Windows\dllcache'' - i am too sleepy now ;) - this folder is hidden

OK, got it-it was in system32/dllcache. So I booted up, and first tested MPC-HC but still no quartz.dll was reported in the VMR9 properties so I did regsvr32 quartz.dll as suggested elsewhere and lo and yes it came back!

However:(....there doesn't seem to be much change with the files in MediaPortal except when I opened the Dark Knight 1080p VC-1 file I got a quick flash of the green screen "The Following Preview has been approved for all audiences by the motion picture association of America", but then, just blackness...:(

I think I might try and change the merit value for MPC Decoder and see if this does any good....

UPDATE: OK, I changed the merit to the same as yours using Radlight Filter Manager, but still no change in MediaPortal..

UPDATE2: OK, I have been looking at the merits of some of the other filters that I think are involved in playing video and many are set to preferred (0x800000 actually the x is replaced by 0 in Radlight) so I think they me conflicting with MPC. I am going to make a list of these- maybe you could then check what values you have for them?:D

    Hey hoborg,

    great stuff! ;-)

The package works like a charm except the *.ts-problem... so im not able to use hardware accl. MPC-Video for DVB-S2... I allready found the thread Playing recorded *.TS files does't work with internal "TsReader.ax" and hope there`ll be a solution.

I also have the problem, that a AC3-Input is modified to a PCM-Output by the MPC-Audio Decoder - am i missing something ?

    greets, Rob

If you now connect to graph by graphstudio, did you get version info in guartz.dll? Can you post screen shot with info about new quartz.dll?
It look like your OS i realy damaged, you should consider to reinstall XP - i sugest to you to install XP with SP3 included.

    Hello.
No there are no solution yet.
The problem is somewhere between internal MP ts splitter and MPC-HC. Becouse ts files working perfectly with Haali spliter, it look like the the internal MP ts splitter need to be updated. There is nothig i can doo right now to fix this. You can try to rename your file to *.MKV to play it under MP.

If you want digital outpot ftom MPC audio decoder you need to set it up. I dont know why, but this filter is not in Direct show filters in MP configuration. To configure it, just download MPC-HC from here, start it, click View->options->Internal filters and double click on your audio format. Configure and click ok. This will store info to registry and will be used by SAF too.

I can record f.e. Anixe HD, while watching the channel in real time the screen is blank, graphstudio shows missing Video-Decoder cause of the "broken" TSReader in MP... When renaming the recorded *.ts files to *.mkv everything is fine...
Is it possible to output the TV-stream as f.e. mkv instead of *.ts? So we could pass the *.ts-problem!

That is question to MP team, But i don't believe there is a way to record directly to MKV.

The information is exactly the same as in your screenshot for quartz.dll. I think you are right and I have my codecs too badly mixed up to have any hope of fixing it without a reinstall- I was hoping to avoid it but it's probably not realistic.

Regarding .ts files, these work fine for me in MPC-HC (build 845 and 849), even interlaced as long as renderer is set to VMR9 (windowed) or VMR9 (renderless) with "VMR9 mixer mode" and "YUV mixing" selected. In VMR9 (renderless) I also have to have "Direct 3D Fullscreen" selected otherwise there is tearing (in that case you can only escape the player by pressing Alt-X).

    question

if i install SAF will i have pdvd8 codec in MP when i want to watch a movie?

i currently have PDVD 8 ultra and mp rc2 installed on my htpc but when i select PDVD 8 codec in MP i still see a crappy image. it looks like it is not changing to pdvd8 codec.
but when i play a movie in PDVD8 i have a near perfect image.

will this issue be solved with installing SAF? will i have the same video quality in MP as in PDVD8?

i really want the PDVD8 codec to work in MP.
so can someone tell me if i will have the same PQ in MP as in PDVD8 when installing SAF?

is it also neccesary to instal RC3?
i'm not looking forward to install RC3, because then i have to start all over again with putting in the right data for my movies (a few hundred) and thats a lot of work i don't want to do twice.

Yes, MPC-HC as an player use its own TS reader. But MP have its own, witch doesnt work with MPC-HC decoder...

Hello SAF use Power DVD 7 only to play DVDs. For movies (HD & normal) are MPC-HC codec used.
Fear not to tray it. You can uninstall it if you dont like it and reinstall PDVD8 back to your PC.

Remember to uninstall Power DVD before you wil try SAF.
