Which version of CLVsd.ax

I am going to extract the file from already installed powerdvd 8 ultra, latest build

There are two files

C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD8\UPnP\CLVSD.ax (542kb)

and C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD8\VideoFilter\CLVsd.ax (874kb)

Which version should i backup prior to formating and later trying out SAF?

2nd question:

Is it still correct that you only get h.a. of h264 with catalyst 8.52?
I can get h.a. with mpc-hc and h264 in catalyst 8.8 and 8.11 (XP/780G/Onboard HD3200)

I like SAF, because it is simple, convinient, lean, and do what it is made for.

If i would like to have more choices, I would choose any other codec pack, or commercial solutions available already, and make the settings myself inside mp.
I really don't want Hoborg to make another bulky codec pack, rather i would like to have saf included in mp, to let mp work with all the formats, subs, tv streams out of the box.

Of course, saf needs to improvre, and always will, but I think it shold be easy, simple, and of course: free

I've installed SAF 3.30 and all I get is a black screen with audio when playing mkv files. What should I do next?

I should mention I'm running MP in vista compatibility mode on Windows 7.

I've had this happen before. I think it has to do with the splitter. I would uninstall haali and SAF, reboot and reinstall both. Then make sure your settings in MP are like the front page here. Let us know what happens!

I second this. The true beauty of SAF is in it's simplicity, not it's options. I want it to work and it works great. If I wanted a billion options I'd install ffdshow and a bunch of other junk. SAF is unique in it's simplicity and I recommend it to everyone I know working on a MP box. Thanks Hoborg!

I never said to add a billion options to SAF, in fact, I never said to add any more codecs/filters/decoders to the pack than the ones that are already in besides the PDVD ones that since the decoder is there, why not the others?

And why can't I have the choice to install what I want? Look at XviD for instance, it was included in the latest version but it wasn't needed and the files would play anyway. Why can't I have the option to select if I want to use XviD decoder or not? For all of you that don't want to have any work or want their choices made by someone else, a simply default/recommended install could be the one, and others, like me, could have a custom setup to select the components they want. Just an example...

This is a just suggestion and it wouldn't complicate SAF, SAF would be simple as it is now and it wouldn't have any unnecessary junk. Try to read what I wrote before spiting out non-sense please...

Why would one write something like this? Is this to upset other people or to demonstrate your own irritation level? I really don't want to know the answer to this question. I do know calling out to someones emotion like this is nearly always counterproductive. Im not trying to correct you or say you are wrong in any way. (Because then I would definitely get a reaction again.) I am only making an observing and maybe putting it in an other perspective.

Hi Elvis56! I'm not sure what the current version of the file is, but if you follow the directions on the front page of this thread you can find out how to download the proper file and where to place it, that way SAF will pick it up properly. Enjoy!

I dont know. Same here. I always get the same message. But I dismiss any thought about it in about 0.03 seconds and press ok.
