Hi there,

me again. Sorry if this is off topic, but I have this problem since I installed the latest SVN and SAF, so I'm guessing it could be either of these.

My MP ist still freezing and stuttering for 2 seconds or so. I deleted the stuff I don't use from the menu (Tetris & Sudoku), installed the Packed Textures Tool, but that didn't help either. My CPU usage is just normal, so that can't be the problem either.

Anyone else have a clue?

Hi all,

I'm having a strange issue when watching shows or movies using SAF. What's happing appears to be like a frame drop of some sort as a scrolling scene in a show will result in a jump or skip. Sound doesn't seem to be affected at all. I too had searched around for the perfect solution with codecs and finally came across this and it's perfect, except for the skipping. I have a GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H mobo with 1G of ram (maybe need more?) and a 4600+ proc. I stream everything over the network which is 1Gb in my house.

I had installed Mediaportal and just installed the divx bundle prior to installing SAF so maybe there is some left over registry snippets from that package even though it's uninstalled? I also have quicktime installed for apple trailers.

I'm just running both stable versions of Mediaportal and SAF (1.01 and 3.40 I believe).

I was going to try re-installing everything on another HD and not install anything but the two and see if this works. Thanks for any assistance that can be offered.

Do you know what version you are using? The site I read stated that the latest PowerDVD 8 Build 2521 and PowerDVD 9 Build 1501 have directshow disabled so won't work in other apps.

This one: PowerDVD9.1501D(Trial)_DVD081031-03.exe

Thanks for your SAF solution ! I'm using MediPortal for more than 1 year, and newly your codecs/filters that are doing a nice job. But I still have some problems ...

OS: Vista Ultimate, 32 bits

I've followed your guide, desinstalling all my old stuff and re-installing as you explain. It is mainly working out of 2 problems:

- No subtitle are displaying: they are available in MediaPortal contextual menus, I can choose them but they are not displayed (these are .srt file in a mkv container). I haven't install any other filter as yours (SAF). Do I need to install DirectVobSub or similar ? I've understand that your SAF will decode correctly the subtitles ? (Haali Media Splitter is installed - last version)

- 720p / H264 encoded are working fine (less than 8% CPU with DXVA). BUT, 1080p have problems. Some frame are simply skipped. Vertical sync is activated and the resolution is set to 1920x1080 at 60Hz. Is that a problem with my GPU ? (NVidia 8500GT - last drivers).

I've installed all your codecs, because with my prior installation using ffdshow as decoder, the film in 720p was skipping frame and using 40% CPU (no DXVA). Now 720p is running fine, but 1080p has skipped frames ... I've looked to the film with VLC player, and no problem.

Any hints ?

Hi.
- DirectVobSub is part of SAF.
- Did you enable subtitles in MP configuration?
- Maybe your 1920x1080 videos are not DXVA compatible, or some nVidia drivers issue,...
- You can try to disable/enable DXVA decoding by reg files (in saf ZIP file)

yeti your gonan get slight jumps if you refresh rate doesn't match the movie correctly. I'm guessing your 1080P movie is 24fps, you might want to set your video card to output at 24Hz (if your display is compatible) and try that.

Or you can use the audio renderer ReClock with SAF. Then all your movies are smooth as silk. search google.

With SAF you break DXVA acceleration if there are subs. With this upcomming features release from disaster123 the subtitle engine is build into MediaPortal and does not break DXVA acceleration.
I use it all the time on top of the most recent SVN and it works realy great.
