I also came across this error tonight. Actually everthing was fine until my son tried to rewind a movie. MP Froze completely and I had to exit out. When I restarted MP and tried to play an xvid movie I get this error now. It wont even play in WMP either. I tried the same movie on a seperate computer and it plays fine so not sure what it is. Might have to remove all codecs and reinstall them.

I already uninstalled SAF en re-installed it, but no succes. Very strange that xvids don't play anymore? Haven't tested this in mpc-hc or wmp11 yet, but will do when i have the time.

Hmm, cannot reproduce - no problem to play DivX/Xvid here.

Problem doesnt occure with every .avi file that is the weird thing. but one file it does is the following:

For.The.Love.Of.Ray.J.S01E08.DSR.XviD-OMiCRON

After my unsuccess with XP SP3, I've upgraded my graphic card to HD 4550 and installed Vista back (before it was reported, that DXVA works with 9.4 drivers in XP again).

I use ATI 9.4 where HW accel works with EVR. With the HD4550 I have also motion adaptive deinterlacing (on the contarery to the integrated HD3200) which is "must" for smooth interlaced video.

Anyway, now I have two issues to solve.

1) Since some ATI driver version (9.1 or 9.2), DXVA outputs video using 15-235 color profile consistently for both SD and HD material, but regardless of whether TV/monitor uses 0-255 or 15-235. My samsung TV most likes 0-255 on HDMI in YBrCr or RGB colors or 15-235. So now I configured CCC for the RGB and whole range and TV for 15-235. However this is not consistent with applications/games and I've read that YBrCr is best for movies. So I would like to have the expansion to 0-255 back. Unfortunately no reg tweaks works. Any idea? I searched in internet and found some info about haali render, which supports the expansion, so I'm not sure whether this is only issue of OS, drivers or also MP. For the time being it seems for me the best thing to downgrade ATI drivers to 8.12 where it worked.

2) HD material stutters - I see 2 skipped frames in every few seconds in EVR. Of course I have vsync enabled. May be this is related to the 24p playbackproblem reported in MP 1.0.1? I cannot check the refresh rate in EVR - I suppose it's not visible due to another MP bug. Anyway exactly the same behaviour is with the integrated HD3200 as with the HD4550 graphic card.

3) Since MP 1.0.1, when I watch TV I get freezes on some channels. I think this is not related to the codecs but to poor signal and TsReader issue. In past there was a patch using the RelaxTsReaderForBadReception.txt but it seems not to work anymore and older TsReader.ax cannot be used in MP 1.0.1.

Same here... it's really wierd, I was watching a TV series in Xvid and after finishing an episode, next one wouldn't play. So I tried back the episode I just finished watching... and it also didn't play!! The same episode I was watching few minutes ago. So I restarted Windows and then some episodes worked, other wouldn't play until I remuxed with MKVMerge setting FourCC to XVID (those were Divx material)

BTW, with MPC-HC all episodes worked fine, using MPV codec. Is there any way to enable MPV codec in SAF for Xvid/Divx, just to test if it works with all files ? I can remux to MKV, it's not a problem, but I have a lot of files already recorded to CD or DVD that play perfect on MPC-HC but refuse to play in MP with SAF... and I really don't want to re-record a huge lot of DVDs...

Well, i have no acess to HD TV.
Basicaly, i do not want to use two h.264 filters (decoders).
Lets wait until MP team fix ts reader issues - 0002069: TsReader is not working properly with some H264 codecs

And simply register Cyberlink H.264 decoder is not enought to make HDTV (h.264) to work. It is not that easy.

As i sad, let wait to tsreader fix.

Um it does work, I use it myself. I can see why you wouldn't want two h.264 decoders, but in the meantime there isn't much option. :)

hoborg, is it possible for you to include MPC-HC and graphstudio with the appropriate files, and the correct settings, and other bits, as part of your installer, because if everything is included as one package that way its easier for everyone to trouble shoot and what not

    just a thought

I think this is not good idea to create "giga" or "mega" utility pack.
This is something i didn't want to SAF turn in to.

oh no i didnt mean it like that, packs like that get on my nerves, just the fact that you ask everyone to test files that dont work with MPC-HC and use graphstudio to check filters and stuff, would of just been convienant to only install SAF with all the tools present.

So yesterday I managed to solve 2 of 3 problems:

    2) using ReClock solved stuttering on HD movies. Not sure if ReClock works perfectly with DxVA when VSYNC is enabled in CCC but not used by ReClock. Anyway it looks as it works. However some movies are completely out of sync, which i think is due to the 24p bug in MP.
    3) the relax TsReader is since 1.0.1 available as checkbox in MP configuration :-/ So I can again watching TV

So I still have to solve 15-235 x 0-255 range problem. I noticed, that configuring my Samsung TV for "normal" blacks helped only for blacks, eg 15 is true black, but whitest white is still 255.

He would need radscorpion's permission to do that, also for Vista users proppage.dll is needed.

It's safer to let users google\search forum for these items, just so no come back :)
