install ac3filter, in MP config, go to the video postprocessing and add ac3filter. go into ac3filter config and set it to spdif and check the DTS box (and AC3 and MPEG if you want). Then set the DTS padding to Auto. That should do it for you, that has worked for me and many others.

I have this DTS stuttering too and the ACFilter does not help.
akajester, can you provide some Screenshots from your ac3filter settings?
This is my last hope...

I have tried CCCP Community Codec Pack and with this the DTS Sound is perfect BUT i have no smooth Video.

Using SAF 3.47 i had a weird issue with my volume (vista x32).

I was always using ac3filter & coreavc, witch worked fine. When switching to SAF i noticed that my volume control did not work anymore. Couldn't set volume with my remote, and had no volumebar on my soundgrpah vfd. Tried, with a keyboard, to set volume ( + and - keys) also had no effect. Solution was to unregister mpaDecFilter.ax and reinstall ac3filter. Now everything works again, volumebar on VFD, remote buttons etc.

? That something i do not understand. Volume are controled by windows settings, not related to filters...

Can be configured in MP settings - General->Volume Settings

I imagine that you are using SPDIF out for audio... If so then the lack of volume control means you are using SPDIF pass through when using mpaDecFilter.ax This is the desired effect of SPDIF passthrough, as your htpc doesn't do any processing of the sound, it is passed straight to the receiver. If AC3 adds volume control then it means that you are adding additional processing/decoding/reencoding to the sound signal.

Fill your system spec in CP!

There are directvobsub in use = no DXVA = you need powerfull CPU - did you check CPU usage?

Well, in MPC-HC player you are using video renderer instead of EVR - try to change it (you need EVR if you want DXVA on Vista). Not sure if E5200 is powerfull enought to decode FullHD video (i doubt about it).

Can be 24 hz bug too - 0002060: Audio and video aren't always in synch when refresh rate is set to 24 hz. - MediaPortal Bugtracker

Can you post LOGs?

BTW - first graph are OK.

Try to disable subtitles in Haali configuration (Compatibility -> autoload vsfilter -> no)

Will need assistance on posting logs, I also checked when watching on mediaportal and it still shows Directvobsub running in it. This is a fresh install, nothing new except updated to 1.02

No extra codecs added, just ran MP,Moving picture and SAF

BTW: The movie I am currently testing cause it has the most issues, requires subtitles "Dances with wolves" is this a possible reason?

edit2: no apparent issues in MPC now that I changed to EVR

Clearly SAF was no solution to me, because of setup to either TV or SPDIF to external receiver. You couldn't change it to make SPDIF output work no matter what it did. It was decoded to Stereo. Even with Ac3filter installed i couldn't change it. I think that has something to do with the high merits of MpaDecFilter.ax.

So i figured this would be the solution:
Installed lastest ffdshow video + audio from here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=173941&package_id=199416. And installed lastest AC3filter(1.60b). I enabled libavcoded for everything in ffdshow, but disabled DTS/AC3 playback! Only thing you have to change is the output source in GUI(i'm using Indigo). So if you want to watch a movie on TV or with surround - both possible.
And of cause was Haali Splitter installed with avi support.

Then the MPHC codecs:
I disable H264 decoder for ffdshow and installed the MPCVideoDec.ax from SAF - using MPHC subtitles. Plays every H264 with hardware decoding. GREAT

Installed a few codecs more from SAF: CLVsd.ax, FLVSplitter.ax, Mpeg2DecFilter.ax, MpegSplitter.ax, xvid.ax. All execpt MpaDecFilter.ax. And xvidcore.dll had to be copied into the windows32 folder
I would have installed lastest codecs from SVN, http://www.xvidvideo.ru/content/view/753/1/ . But figured these would work very well.

This way i can play DVD's with the sound mentioned before by using Cyberlink Video Decoder.

OnlineVideo, MyTrailer works perfectly too.

So:
DVD --> Cyberlink DVD decoder - Hardware Decoding + Subtitles + Audio (TV + SPDIF(AC3/DTS))
H264 --> MPCVideodec - Hardware Decoding + Subtitles + Audio (TV + SPDIF(AC3/DTS))
OnlineVideos --> MPCVideoDec + ffdshow Audio(No ffdshow support)
Other --> Mostly done by ffdshow Video and ffdshow Audio. + Subtitles
XviD --> Decoded by xvid set in ffdshow + ffdshow audio/ac3filter + subtitles

Setup:
Newest driver for everything. See my setup to the left. No problems at all. And using EVR render. And using autorefresh changer.


Only thing i'm missing is that black should be black and not grey? If somebody have an idea to make this possible, please say so.

HI brudertac,

Have you tried the "dynamic refreshrate' function which comes with MP 1.02? You can find it in Configuration.exe > Expert mode > General > Dynamic Refreshrate.

If the audio is perfect, but the video isnt, this could be because of the mismatch in source file and actual refreshrate of the tv/monitor.

I play a movie that is cinematic widescreen and pause it at the very start where everything is still black (grey), then i just turn down the brightness until i can't distinguish the grey from the black bars above and below the movie. I assume this happens because my video card is outputing 0-255 however the video is rendered as 16- 235. I have noticed that all my video files are the similar shade of grey prior to adjusting the contrast level. If you find that some videos have different shades of black ie 0 vs 16 then you will need more complicated adjustments.

This is not the most elegant solution, but is a good extremely quick fix and should be good enough for most users. You can also down display calibration videos to adjust the white balance and other colour settings, but that is complicated and i really think the above fix is good enough (as long as all your videos are rendered as 16-235, if you have some rendered as 0-255 and some rendered as 16-235 then you have a problem. there is a reg hack for ati video cards that apparently corrects this).
