I would need a little help. I have the following motherboard Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H. (nvidia Geforce 9400 chipset)
I have problems with playing 1080p or 720p mkv films, on my HTPC. All films are stuttering at playback.
I use mediaportal 1.0.2 and I have SAF v3.47 installed. I tried everything, installed the latest nvidia driver, but nothing changed. Changed the settings, no change.
Any idea what the problem could be? I do not know what kind of informations do you need to analyze the problem, so pls let me know.

Thank you in advance for your help!

What CPU?
Try to disable subtitles in SAF setup

I have the same motherboard. I also run xp sp3. I also have problems with stuttering with SAF, especially when using DXVA.
Right now when under XP i use FFDSHow and it works like a charm!

I will try. Just a question, If I disable subtitles in SAF, how I will be able to see the subtitles?

I dont use dxva with ffdshow, it s not possible. But the problem with dxva is that you cant have subtitles, quite a big problem.
I have a E8500.
AS you tell me you still have stuttering with ffdshow i am wondering what video render do you use? I recommend VMR9 with every option checked

I use VMR9. I tried with all option checked, and I tried without any filtering, same problem. Maybe its because of the cpu? Not fast enough?

strange, you should check your cpu usage with and without playing

According to task manager:

without playing 1-4%
720p upto 30 %
1080p upto 54%

tested while playing with mpc-hc
