This was the case with ffdshow for pretty long time, but they improved their codec last fall to work with more multiplexers.
That's good to hear. :) I didn't know the "official" reason.

Ffdshow and MP are two of my must-have piece of soft!

    bye!

MPC-HC decoder issue might stay unfixed forever, their decoder is expecting to receive the video stream in quite different format than all other codecs (so it would be lot of work for us to support only one codec).

SO the MediaPlayerClassic decoder used by SAF will not work in MP for H264 coded material and this might stay that way forever.
PowerDVD can't work together with SAF, so BluRay disks will not work.
This doesn't sound very hopefull for HD material with SAF... or don't i understand everything...

I am afraid, there are no other free h.264 decoder available. You can use SAF+CoreAVC (for h.264 TV), this combination works fine.

Well, you can combine SAF+PowerDVD, but PDVD overwrite some SAF settings and can broke some stuff. There is no way how i can support it. PDVD have tons of filters, modify your system in lots of way. You can try to combine SAF+PDVD, but on your own risk...

Microsoft wont add Blue Ray support in to Windows soon, becouse if they do, companies who create/sells blueray players will lose bilions of $... There can be hidden contracts between MS and such companies, who know? :)
Maybe when there will be "holo disks" (or some future technology), MS add blueray support, like they did with DVD support.

    No so fine...

Working combination in my case is MP + Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 (not version 9, as it doesn't install directshow compatible h264 decoder), but it's not free.

Once h264 related issues with some codecs + TSReader are solved, we'll have a really good and free combination: MP + Divx.h264. I've tested it in combination with DVBViewer, and it's really reliable and good for zapping h264 channels (specially 1080i).

    bye!

PD: One more issue related to CoreAVC decoding h264 LiveTV, confirmed by myself:

What about ffdshow? I know it can't do DXVA but dual core is supported :)

ffdshow will work as long as your cpu can handle the video without hardware acceleration

DVBViever (and huge amount of other demultiplexer filters are seeing the same issue as well). Does anyone have Casimir's email? Maybe I could have a small chat with him to see if they are willing to do some changes on their codec side.

    Hi.
No EMAIL to him, but you can try send him PM on official MPC-HC thread

Let's see what the MPC-HC developers think of that. Hopefully they are willing to implement the needed support, otherwise TsReader and MPC-HC H.264 decoders won't be able to be used in the same graph (live / recorded tv).

    Yes, post small example please.
I think problem is Win7 and its own audio video decoders (there is nothing from SAF used in graph), or you simply forgot to enable AVI under haali settings.
