I use MediaPortal 1.0.2.0 and the latest SAF in a Win XP MCE installation. I first tried with EVR as the renderer but my MP2 video doesn't work. Running MediaPortal with VMR9 seems to work with everything I've tried so far, but I recall that I need to use EVR (I have Framework 3.5 installed) to get DXVA working.

One other thing I've noticed when installing SAF is that my GPU isn't recognized by the installer. I'm using an Asus Nvidia 94500GT.

I'm also using post processing now following the advice in the thread linked to in the first post. Looks awesome!

Yes, it's correct. I've now tried back and forth and I installed Mediaportal 1.1 to be able to use subs and MPC-HC's subtitle engine is awesome.

One thing to remember is that DXVA on .mkv's only works with level 4.1 encoded material. Or?

What about Level 5.1 material?

My kids are watching Ice Age 3 full bluray from HDD now. There is some tearing now and then at the top of the screen, not much it comes and goes.

Any tweaks to get rid of it?

Another question: 2d surfaces are preset when you install SAF but MPC-HC recommends 3d surfaces in MPC-HC settings (output) would that be a better choice?

But there is lot of bugs/crashes fixed when using DXVA already, using old MP is not recomended by me.

I don't want to be a nuisance in the ongoing discussion, but I guess the problem most people are having with 1.1 is, that's it not yet stable and furthermore can't update an existing setup.

That said, I don't have any problems at all with my setup (and haven't had for ages using SAF):

Vista - EVR - MP1.0.2 - Audio PassThrough - DXVA

The only problem I am still having is the occasional stutter (every 20*x seconds), although by now I guess this is not related to decoding at all.

ATI can decode 5.1 up to 5ref. frames.

There is nothing like surface option in MP.

I used to have this. I solved it by upgrading my graphics driver. I did however update DirectX at the same time, so one of this might help.

Oh cool. I Have ATI HD3200 (780g) Gonna try some L5.1 .mkv's later on..

I unchecked alternative vsync in MPC-HC output setup and I quickly watched a few fast moving scenes of Ice Age 3 bluray and I didnt manage to see any tearing...

What is alternative vsync actually? I've read some stuff about vsync but I don't find any settings for it in catalyst 9.5 wich I'm running (after being recommended with this plugin, xp and ATI HD3200)

Now the next thing... Some blurays (like Ice Age 3) have the main movie divided into 2-4 streams sometimes. Ice age 3 have 2... the opening credits are separated from the main movie in STREAMS folder. I watched the biggest file ofcourse, but didnt get the opening credits (the movie started straight into the first scene so to speak)

How can I set up my videos to queue up two files when I pick Ice age 3 in mediaportal interface?? I erad on anothe forum latest MPC-HC actually can open the complete bluray folder.

Tried to explain as good as my english allows...
