Everything is working for me except the audio codec for hddvd, the file is taken from the disk and not compressed or altered (as far as I know), I believe it is in LPCM format. I demux the wav file and can play it back in both winamp and vlc in glorious 5.1 surround sound. But with Audio Codec set to ffdshow audio decoder, I just get static - GraphEdit Studio revealed the Haali Splitter audio feeding directly into the audio sound card without going through ffdshow. Any suggestion or fix would be appreciated!

p.s. I do have the ffdshow audio decode enabled under Video Post-Processing per the intruction, even though I am not using SPDIF pass-through on my system (I have 5.1 soundcard). Either way, it did not seem to change the situation, as I did try the SAF install without the pass-through option, and without the Video Post-Processing in the configuraton.

    Thanks!
    Jaz

Just an idea, may or may not work

Find this screen in ffdshow audio settings, ignore the red circles/writing.

Make sure LPCM is set to enabled. Now save changes, reboot your computer, retry the video file.

If it still doesn't work then find this screen in ffdshow audio settings, ignore the red circles/writing

Have a look under supported audio output sample forms options. Notice there is an option for LPCM, if you currently have that ticked, you should untick the box, don't change any other settings at this stage. Now save changes, reboot, retry video again.

    hoborg,

Thanks for following up, here is a sample of the file in question for your reference. Also this is the tsMuxR instruction showing the file types:

SmartLabs tsMuxeR. Version 1.10.6 SmartLabs - The smart way to your customers
VC-1 stream does not contain fps field. Muxing fps=23.976
    Decoding VC-1 stream (track 1): Profile: Advanced@3 Resolution: 1920:1080p Frame rate: 23.976
Decoding LPCM stream (track 2): Bitrate: 6912Kbps Sample Rate: 48KHz Channels: 5.1 Bits per sample: 24bit

    Jaz

p.s. for some reason, I can not upload the file as attachment, so I will email it to you...

    kiwijunglis,

Thanks for your suggestions, I checked those settings and they seem fine. I suspect I am missing some codecs or something in my system is messed up - may have to do a clean install ... yikes!

    kiwijunglist,

I see, I will zip it when I get home tonight. But there appears to be some tricks to get the audio out from hdddvd and blu ray rips as discussed on AVSForum. Do I need to install the ffdshow-tryout SVN builds, or does SAF when configured correctly will be able to decode the various HD audio formats?

    Cheers,
    Jaz

Ok, I got it working with hddvd rip after following the instruction from AVSForum - since I have not yet tried the ffdshow-tryout codecs, I decided just convert the EAC3/LPCM file to FLAC and now Haali Splitter and ffdshow audio decoder are working correctly.

    Thanks,
    Jaz
